247 seems to do this a lot...I thought they were legit? They seem more like a joke to me.

247 is the king of posting misleading headlines to attract viewers.

I agree. Too many major differences in what they report and what VolQuest reports.

I think 24/7 intentionally takes things out of context and publishes it. So they can have something different and hope people will sign on with them.

Makes them come off as a pathetic joke, IMO.

I've been saying here lately that their rankings are better than Rivals but their articles & "journalists" are homers & write mis-leading articles.

Chris Price of Scout text O'brien & asked him if Sirmon & Wilcox leaving changed anything, O'brien replied back with "VFL".

I like that.

I honestly don't see O'Brien being anything but a Vol. He is supposedly rooming with Santos. IMO UT can retain O'Brien, Santos, and Peters. I think Crawley and McNeil will be the hardest current commits to keep. It is sounding like players who were once considering UT like Kirven and Brown might not be a possiblity anymore. Although Richie Brown supposedly will still visit.

JMoore, what do you think happens after the dust settles? How many do you think we lose, and who?

When I first woke up this morning & saw the news I really thought we would lose Santos, Peters, O'Brien, McNeil, & Crawley.

I think we will hold onto O'Brien but it's going to be really really hard to keep the rest.

I'm worried about Crawley. He's a Sirmon guy and he was already looking around.

Seems to me that Sirmon did a good job selling TN and what we have to offer and not just himself.

Wooo give him a raise! Jk, glad he did, we need these guys.
Of course it would be our luck that our DC leaves when were recruiting more D guys than offensive guys...

The UT I know doesn't lose to UK.

That was a first for me too. And I didn't/don't like it. I was more so referencing to the fact that big-time football recruits will continue attending UT because of the history, facilities, and NFL pipeline.

Sirmon and Wilcox were young, up-and-coming coaches. It sucks they are gone, but I'm thinking there is a decent chance UT will land a big name defensive hire soon.

I'm not sure why a big name DC would come here knowing it will likely be for one year unless he's currently unemployed.

Which is another reason why CLT needs to be CD. That and the fact any other DC that does come in will have to retain CLT and CTJ as a condition to get the offer.

Very valid points. I am also aware of that. Guess I'm just hoping for the best. UT is still in the SEC and has outstanding facilities and history. I am hoping UT can at least hire a somewhat successful DC.

At this point, I mainly want these recruits to be retained. Especially Santos, McNeil, and Peters.

I'll almost cry if we lose Santos.

Next HC will want his own DC.

I understand that, but he'll be getting paid from us guaranteed 2 more years and go out and get another job. If he is a "big time DC", that would be a high paying job too. Wouldn't suck getting paid 2x for doing 1 job.

Those are all rumors,” the 6-foot-3, 300-pound O'Brien said Monday night. “That's part of college football. Coaches come and go. I picked the school for the school, not the coaches. In college football, there are so many coaching changes every year, especially in the SEC.
“I picked Tennessee for the school and it being a great fit for me. Tennessee will hire another great defensive coordinator. I had a great with relationship with both of those coaches but I'm still a Volunteer even with their departure.

I might take a few official visits to other places but for right now, I'm a Vol

One, if they are blessed by Hart and do their job then they could be the replacement.

Two, if the above happens and they are not HC material then their future is STILL not bound to DD's.

Three, it is NOT likely that they would be here for only one year. If a DC comes in and does their job then UT should DEFINITELY win the 7 regular season games that will likely keep Dooley around another year.

If the DC does not do his job... then what should he expect?
