O'Brien initially informed the staff months ago of his commitment. He continued to reaffirm his commitment to the staff over the last few months when stories surfaced regarding his apparent interest in Michigan.

Thank you OCI -- exactly what I have been saying for months here. Danny was a silent all along.

I also want to thank you for all the good information you bring to these boards. You have become the most solid contributor here.

I hope he likes to play early and often because his number will likely be called quite a bit next year and alot more in 2013.

I might have had a bad day. I didnt see anything the size of the deer in Michigan. Given the difference between that area, and middle TN, I can see where there would be a much better herd than what I see here.

Back when I lived in MI (40 years of my life there), the deer that I had in my pasture on a daily basis were monsters compared to what I see in my pasture here. I get a pretty good selection wandering through my pasture every morning/evening. Puppies compared to back home.

And, as I was saying, I may have just had a bad day at LBL. I will take your word for it since I have only been there once.

I have hunted Michigan and LBL, Michigan has bigger deer overall as a state but LBL gives a better chance of killing a boone and crockett IMO. Nothing beats Illinois but that is off topic.

I agree he will play next year but if Jacobs and Couch are not starting I will be disappointed.

So are we done with DT for this class with Jacobs and O'Brien or do we still go after McCullers or someone else?

The staff is trying hard to get at least one more DT, perhaps 2 more. Kirvin, McCullers, Shanks, and the Franklin kid are all still possibles. It looks like Kirvin and Shanks are the two that we want the most, but both are fairly long shots at the moment. We have not given up, though, and Dooley and Staff are proving to be very good recruiters. Each of the kids above are still listening to us and the key will be getting them on campus.

Funny how all of the whiners who thought that Santos wanted to decommit are now finding out that Santos is recruiting other defensive talent to UT.

My Freshman year at UF: (fall of '83)

I was dating a girl whose family owned a 300 acre horse farm east of Gainesville. Myself, this chick and her brother, and my buddy Francis (ya gotta kind of be a tough one to live with the name Francis) used to hang out at her place on the weekends tossing back the Wild Turkey and trying to tip cows (was never successful).

One night in early November we got a great, Wild Turkey inspired, idea. tBrother got his big 'ol truck, the GF stood in the back holding a HUGE buckshining light, I had the lasso, and francis had the piggin string. . . . and we took off after some deer.

We were chasing them out of the brush, she was shining, I was trying to lasso. Mostly unsuccessful, but we did catch 3 out of about 30 that we attempted.

The first one: Lasso'd, Francis jumped over the edge, flopped the deer on it's side, and proceeded to get the daylights kicked out of him. Blood all over his face. He ended up cutting the lasso, they shot the deer a couple weeks later still had the lasso loose on its neck.

The Second one: Lasso'd the antlers, Francis jumped over the edge, flopped it on its side, and the lasso came lose, and it ran away.

The third one: Lasso'd antlers again. Francis jumped over the edge, and got the daylights kicked out of him again. Never got the deer to the ground. It was working him over pretty good. We cut rope and let it go. Found the rest of the lasso in the pasture the next day.

Also took Francis to the ER the next day, after we sobered up a bit. Apparently, his left nut took most of the abuse from the deer.

No Moral of the Story, but the Florida deer are tiny little things compared to the ones in my pasture here "In the Middle"

Side Note: glad I dont drink anymore. hahaha

Gotta give it to Wolverine fans for not trolling our boards talking alot of crap through this whole ordeal. To bad we have a small group of fans that seem to enjoy this.

Who needed Wolverine fans to troll? We have you.

I'm sure someone would be willing to pull up all your drivel in this thread.

but he's going to have to stay up north to get any big deer. Did someone actually try to tell him there was good hunting here in TN? Compared to the Deer in MI, the ones here in TN are german shepards.
Oh noes. Nobody tell O'Brien this. He may decommit.
