He wore the UT hat to UM junior day for a reason. He made a statement of UT has offered and UM hasn't. He has the offer and he's Ben working on his relationship with the coaches there. He has a lot tugging him to UM ATM.

There's always something in DT recruiting.

Is that why he wore it to eat ribs in Tuscaloosa too? To show them the BBQ is better in Knoxville?

Pisses me off actually. I hate the thought of us being this guy's 2nd choice. Even if he does commit to us it would only be because another school wouldn't take him. Almost makes me not want him now.

Makes me mad as well. If he commits to us when he wants to go to Michigan and something happens where they change their mind and make room for him then he will leave and we may miss out on someone else.

I remember a post and its been a while since I read it. But the OP said that we are in a lot better position for DT's in 13'. Now of course that doesn't help us for next year , but the reason I say this is because if we miss out on O'Brien CDD may have to go with more Juco DT's for next year. I just hope that there are still some out there that are worth a scholly. I would love to hear what some insiders think about this.

We really need them this recruiting class so they will be with the sophomore talent we have now. That will put the new DTs in their sophomore year with what should be a great senior class that will need top DT talent to have a chance to win the SEC.

Going into this recruiting class we were in great shape with a lot of DTs as well. But for some reason, no idea what it is, we seem to drop off each ones list slowly.

I think we are cursed when it comes to DT recruiting.

If we dont' start successfully recruiting blue chip DT's soon, we will never win the East, let alone the SEC.

I totally agree we need them this class, but we are running out of DT's especially if we miss out on O'Brien. My question was do you think we will have dip into more Juco ranks (if there is any worth having) to meet next years needs?

Does kinda sound that way. Fingers crossed that it isn't that way though. We seriously need to stop finishing 2nd for DTs and start finishing first.

We're really one stud dt commit away from this class being very solid

how can you say that, please tell me you have some inside info. With only Damien Jacobs committed at this time to the 2012 class and with only 3 committed from the 2011 class and 2 committed from the 2010 I believe the DT position is a injury or 2 away from an emergence.

I dunno about that list you got there, flat, but Pipkins isn't on it.

FWIW, mgoblog doesn't think Michigan will take another DT.

Lol

We need them, that's for sure. With the way that Dooley's last two classes seem to be shaping up at LB and the commits that we have so far this year at LB, DT seems to be the only GLARING weakness on this team over the next couple of years. It's still early this year and have a chance to still pull some quality guys. I'm sure the coaches know this and are trying their damnedest to address it.

It sure seems like the kid is sitting back and waiting to see if Michigan will take him. I know others say he could have commited before Pipkins did...but who knows if Pipkins had not been a silent for a while and O'Brien was not allowed to commit until they made sure they had room for him. If he were so sold on UT as alot claim, he would already be onboard. JMO
