that it is not... my father cut his teeth in Flint. Crazy place.

Crazy place indeed. It started out crazy, and in the last 30 years it has progressed way beyond that.

When the car industry went to crap and the GM plants started closing in Flint, it got real, real ugly.

I admire anyone that comes out of Flint and is successful. It is not an easy thing to do. (and Im not trying to bash Flint. Not at all. Just a damn scary place. I have done a lot of work there in the past)

Danny O'Brien doesn't seem to be carrying a lot of bad weight, which is saying something since he's listed at 6-2, 304. He seemed to show a lot of intensity and was obviously putting forth some effort his first day out.

The fact you cant see his face in that pic makes it scary lookin. Just a black void in a helmet coming at you with a 300+lb body full of ill intent.

EDIT: this was my 666th post, which makes it creepier.

I tell you what....not only did the team put in a ton of work in the off season to be in better physical condition, but the freshmen who didn't join the team until the summer put in a lot of work as well on their own time!! That's saying A LOT as to the type of players DD and staff recruit.

This dude will be a team leader in a couple years, maybe before. Just exudes toughness and determination. We need that bad.

Obligatory "wants it."

There is no reason that a kid like that cant come in and be a team leader as a freshman. If he gets after it with everything he has, every second, every minute, every play......the rest will have no choice but to follow. I suspect that will happen.

Very rare...Payton was told to "shut the f*** up and call the play" by his lineman in the huddle during the Florida game his Freshman season.

Most important things for a talented Frosh to do are work hard, watch, learn and try to find a place to contribute. He doesn't have the standing to open his mouth until at least 2nd half of season and then only if he's obviously playing lights out...rare for a Freshman.

Even Berry new his place as a Freshman.

If he is out there beating everyones ass, he never has to say a word. That is my point. Get out there, get after them. RELENTLESSLY. Every second. Every minute. Every play. You never have to say a word. They will follow.

Ive seen it first hand. Maybe this kid has it. Maybe he doesnt. Time will tell. (I think he does)

With Hood back from injury and Dante... excuse me, Omari Phillips newly added, we're getting pretty deep at DT. O'Brien appears the sort that will be hard to keep off the field, but he'll have to climb the ladder to get there. I see seven or eight defensive lineman who have been starters or are capable of being starters.

Does Sunseri freely substitute DTs (and the D line as a whole) keeping fresh guys in all the time?

Believe this kid will be used all over the D-line.

Agree BB, and he looks like he's physically ready enough to get some snaps as a true freshman. I still am really wowed at how our freshman class came in looking like physical specimens...for the most part. I know Omari is out of shape, but he really doesn't count with his situation. The rest of the group really worked hard in the off season to get as college ready as possible. Am loving the work ethic of our whole team right now.
