'12 LA S Landon Collins

With how tight our class is going to be and our need on the lines, we actually dont need Collins. IMO he is a take if he wants to come, but having McNeil committed is huge. I am not saying dont recruit him becuase he is a player.

We took Janzen Jackson out of Louisiana we can take this one too. I know that didn't turn out well but still it happened and he was a five star.

Janzen's own character made his bed. Hopefully Collins has better character

Not trying to be a smart ass here, but yeah, since he would immediately become the best player in our class, I would say he is a take. There is no doubt.

An Elite player should always be considered a "need", especially when your competition is a team on your schedule ever year and you are trying to play catch up from a talent standpoint to about half the teams in your conference.

Frank Wilson was the reason we got Jackson. If he was on staff here we'd have Anthony Johnson too.

Through four weeks of college football, Collins is confident in his two leaders – in large part because of how impressive both SEC teams look on defense.

“It’s still LSU and Alabama for me,” Collins said. “I feel like both of their defenses are doing excellent. They are holding teams down and then the defensive backs are grabbing interceptions.

What are our chances of pulling in Landon Collins?

Espn says his interest in us is medium but his interest in LSU and Bama are high. Just wondering if there's been any news of him visiting the campus or him mentioning us in interviews or anything.

Thanx

The guys at the LSU rivals site just called me. They were at Landon Collins' Under Armour announcement/presentation today. Collins will visit LSU officially the weekend of the Arkansas game.

Collins' dad said that after that visit they will definitely take a visit to Texas and Tennessee. Collins has already visited Alabama.

-Hubbs.

Pipe-dream. But impressive that we will get a visit.

Collins has been saying for months he will visit officially. very slim chance he picks ut. would be a much more suprising pull than j jackson.

Think about this. We have the TOP two leading Freshmen tacklers in the ENTIRE SEC. We don't have any top seniors or juniors on the field with the possible exception of Jackson. Every one of these HS player were Freshmen & Sophomores is HS at one time and they understand what it is like to compete with Juniors and Seniors and they also know what they will be able to do when they become Juniors and Seniors. Right now at UT Freshmen and Sophomores are playing because we don't have any top Juniors and Seniors. That window is closing fast. If a recruit wants to make his mark early and be a part of something that is going to be pretty good if not special he has to think about UT. This type of an opportunity, with a couple of maturing classes that have key future All-SEC stars (Bray, Hunter, Rogers, Johnson, Maggitt, etc.) where there are still needs, is not something to casually dismiss. JMO.

It is a very good sign that we are getting a few of these top flight guys here in spite of our record. IF we can turn the corner, we will begin to see some of these guys sign on to become VFL. We all got excited about Jernigan last year, but deep down we knew we had no shot. Same thing with Collins...exciting, yet where we are as a program, no shot. Hopefully by this time next year, the Jernigan's and Collins' of the world will be ours.

When Dooley and Joseph tried to let Collins know the playing time situation at safety, he wouldn't even let them finish.

"He tried to talk to me about but I told him if I were to come to Tennessee I wouldn't want anything given to me, I'd want to earn it," Collins said.

Collins has already visited Alabama and LSU and said he has two more officials set for Texas and Tennessee and then he'll make his decision at the Under Armour All-American game in Orlando, Fla.
