While it will help for Wilcox to develop ties with various HS programs and some of the younger elite defensive players around the South, by far the biggest contribution he can make to Tennessee recruiting would be for him to develop a defense that is top tier, both in the SEC and nationally.

Nothing draws elite players like winning programs.

Keep seeing his name popping up on mock boards. Do we have a legitimate shot? Seems like we are pretty far behind Bama on this one from what I've gathered.

Every year, the fans on this MB attach themselves to one of the 5 star recruits. They convince themselves that UT is going to pull the upset and pull him. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen. LC is this year's JW Jr. Honestly, I don't want to be a huge downer but it's not likely that we get him. We are pretty far behind Bama and LSU.

Saw this kid alot this weekend (on TV) at The Opening on ESPNU, absolute beast. Would love if we move into better position with him as the Fall goes on.

Fingers crossed.

New video on Scout. UT is mentioned in his top 5. He goes on to add a few more schools. He said he's narrowed it down to 5-8 schools. TX, LSU, Bama, UT, FL, USC, were some teams named. Kept mentioning getting to BCS games as a qualification of a school.

Yeah, all the teams listed are BCS contenders. Except one. I wonder which one that is?

you mean except four?

Last season's record (w/o bowls):
Texas- 5-7
Tennessee 6-6
Florida 7-5
USC- 8-4 no possibility of bowl

None of those teams are going to be BCS contenders this year. Down the road they all can be, but not this year.

I know there was a lot of info out there about Collins wearing an Alabama hat, but I also saw photos from The Opening where Collins had an LSU hat too. TIFWIW.

BTW regarding the hat he also said he thought he had his LAU and Miami hat pack but apparantly only his UA came with him.

Yeah, but they will be there a whole lot sooner than UT will. Texas will be better. USC will be better. Not to mention their post-season ban may be almost up by the time he plays. Florida has the talent, but it has yet to be determined if they can put it together.

If you go to ESPN's recruiting page and look at the day 5 notes section from The Opening, you can see Collins sporting the LSU hat he supposedly left at home...
