Don't know why everyone is attacking Peters. Petrino told him something that a lot of fans and media believed was true at the time. He provided facts to back it up. Idiot situation happens in Petrino's 5th year and now our fans start trashing the kid. I feel bad because he chose the school for a certain reason and now it blew up in the kid's face. I could care less about Petrino's behind. But he did what was best for his program in Peters case. Hell quite a few schools negative recruit. Just like Chizik did with Muschamp in that article. It happens kids listen it is what it is. Wish he could get out of his LOI and sign with us right now.

This. Good post.

Super proud of some of the guys like J. Croom, Justin King, and Juwan James who have tweeted Otha wishing him best of luck and telling him to keep his head up.

While things didnt go down our way, I am glad to see these players reaching out and treating someone who didnt exactly always do right by them well in a time or peril.

Speaks great volumes to the kinda kids we are recruiting.

Yeah, its 18 year olds and we're still kids. I'm 17, and I can spot bull**** when it's being thrown at me.

What was BS? Arky is a stronger program/team right now, had a better coach, showed they could win, was in a BCS game two years ago, coach wasn't on the hotseat, and beat the piss out of us(had us all over the Sportscenter Top 10 plays). Petrino didn't really have to negative recruit that much. All he had to do was bring up the facts.

I don't follow recruiting to a point or anything, but I was just stating that being 18 (as everyone says "he is a 18 year old kid") you can catch BS. Not taking either side, maybe the facts were there and he really wanted to go to Arkansas for his self and not the coach. Wasn't attacking Arky, or Peters. I'm saying that the 18 argument is invalid.

The 18 year old case is valid. You'll find out when you get a bit older.

go to Jason's thread!

I will have to admit that I did make a Karma comment but it was directed at Petrino and not Peters. I will say this though, I don't feel bad for the young man because of how it went down. I am sure that Peters will do well at Arky and most likely have a successful NFL career.

Hindsight is always 20/20..Good Luck to Otha and hope whoever the new HC at Arky is takes good care of him and everybody else CBP recruited.

I wasn't upset at the situation in which Peters switched to Arky. I was disappointed, but not mad. However, the manner in which he conducted his business was what pisses me off. I'm sure Petrino coached him how to do it, but integrity is still integrity and Peters is/has learned a hard lesson.

Lying gets you nowhere. If you want to go to another school, fine, but don't lie to my teams coach and then leave them "up a creek."

You lay with dogs; you get fleas. Sorry we missed out on a good prospect but there are others out there that will fill the hole. Meanwhile the Pigs can enjoy the wallow they put themselves in.

Agreed. Certainly don't blame Peters but I won't lie and say I don't love every minute of the irony. Welcome Otha. Welcome back to the old Arkansas that we all used to know.

Having spent time in and around Fayetteville for visits and having lived in the state for a dozen years previously, I can tell you that the Orange tinted glasses are keeping some of you from understanding why Peters chose Arky over our Vols. The Hogs are THE school and team in that state. Fayetteville is a business friendly, nice area in the Ozarks with a fun social life for the kids. Peters is closer to home/Momma and playing for a top 10 program with a top 10 head coach when he made the choice. Whether they got him the right way or the wrong way (Jason Croome's thread) - it still was a sound choice and he had no way of knowing that BP would get this stupid. He will be loved by the Arky fans regardless and will have just as good of shot at the NFL with them as with us. It's not like we are the top of the heap anymore.

Am I just one of many today savoring the rich irony in this latest chapter of the Otha Peters recruiting saga?

Otha jilts us at the eleventh hour due to perceived coaching instability at UT, and now the "solid" head coach he abandoned us for is licking his wounds, unemployed, in a ditch somewhere in rural Arkansas.

I sort of dismissed the rumors in the run-up to signing day, but now that I'm coming to understand what a treacherous scoundrel Petrino has evidently always been it all seems totally credible, likely even, that Arkansas recruiters were directly exploiting Dooley's supposed vulnerability to steal our recruits. I know that this is how this twisted game is played, but by the same token I am allowed to heckle their program when their shameless meddling blows up in their faces.

I'm actually impressed that the UA AD showed the sack he did in making a very unpopular, if correct, decision. Contrast their response with the dithering at Ohio State of the morally superior Big Ten. My guess is that the actual details are far more sordid and disturbing than we know so far.

It's not the decision, but how he did it. He lied to our coaches.

Well apparently he wasn't a very likeable guy anyway according to a lot of recent reports coming from different people that had built relationships with him and the university
