Not sure how I feel about an early signing period, it has pros and cons, like everything else.

Bad enough that we have to endure one SD, not sure some of the people here could handle two.

Well, here is how they would handle it.
Group #1: These are the overly optimistic and think that we will sign 25 5* recruits and would feel 2x the letdown.
Group #2: This is the majority of VNers. They would get on here to enjoy the camaraderie of Volnation and cheer on the Vols with cautious optimism, celebrating the next class of Vols.
Group #3: These are the emo pissers and moaners that post the same trolling nonsense in every thread. They won't show up unless someone waivers- if that happens they will come in droves, and attempt to spread their eternal misery like the plague. This is where you spring the ignore traps that you have set all around you.

We all wanna see results, we all ahte the state that the rpogram has been in.

With that said, last year was a hard year to really judge a guy on, all things considered.

I tend to stay in the middle with my feelings towards him, I understand the undertaking he had, but I also want results.

It's now or never for him this year.

to me, the number of coaches leaving is the indicator. In retrospect, we should have fired him. Prior to the coaches leaving, i was for giving him one more year. I don't think he will succeed here, so better to cut our losses when all the coaches are changing anyway. Easier to say in retrospect.

If my reservations about signing with a program had to do with a coach's job stability and my family and I went to a website representing the program's fanbase and most of the posters were bashing the coach and calling for his job, I doubt I would want to sign there. Whether recruits and their families read this stuff or not (and you have a recruit's mother saying they do), the constant negativity and overreaction does nothing but hurt the program. While I and most posters here realize this is a not-so-silent minority, we have that context. Others don't. You don't have to "pump sunshine," but you don't have to act like an idiot either.

Oh, go big orange.

Or from the AD saying that there were no more excuses.

There aren't, but that doesn't mean he is on the hot seat. If he wins 7 games next year he is more than likely staying. If his seat was actually as hot as everyone says it is, he would have to win a championship here soon because the coach here is expected to do so.

I think the staff is upgraded. Maybe just me.

Gonna throw a hypothetical situation at you.

Say UT wins 9 games next year, any 9 games, doesn't matter. UT has no excuses, no serious injuries to our very best players.

We pull another top 15 class.

Does your opinion of Dooley start to change?

Or are you just dead-set against him being the coach no matter what?

One 9 season isn't going to change my mind on him because there's 8 wins on the 2012 schedule as it stands now.

I'm not dead set against him but he needs to win a lot to change my mind. Beating the dregs of the SEC and some directional schools and winning one of 4 games between USCe, UGA, UF and Bama isn't the stuff of legends.

If you think NC State (which isn't even in the SEC) and Missouri are the dregs of the SEC you might want to re-evaluate things. We should be capable of beating them, but they should be capable of beating us too if they play well and we don't, especially Missouri.

Just what did you expect Dooley`s record to be after 2 years with the kind of players he inherited?

Exactly. If we can just make this recruiting class solid, even with the latest casualties (still very much possible), I still feel a lot better going into next year with Junior and Sophmore starters against the big boys.

Understandable.

I actually see it the way you do, I just agree with keeping him this year as opposed to firing him.

I say that not thinking that UT would have hired a really good coach to replace him.

Now after next year we should have a very good foundation of players for another coach to work with, so he either gets 8 or he gets to packing.

It's normal to have to replace one or two assistants every year. Some leave for promotions elsewhere, and sometimes you have to fire someone who isn't pulling his weight.

It's certainly not normal to have to replace 6 assistants in one year. And it really is troublesome when almost all of those were lateral moves position-wise. That doesn't happen unless the head coach is believed to be captaining a sinking ship.

Optimism not allowed!

How? Replacing Baggett with Hinshaw isn't an upgrade.

Pittman doesn't have the resume Hiestand had (I don't think either one is very good)

Sunseri's resume is nearly identical to Lance Thompson's. Both looked great under Saban and floundered elsewhere (coaching Julius Peppers, Kris Jenkins and Brentson Buckner is luck).

Coiner is probably a gigantic upgrade over Russell.

Sunseri hasn't ever been a DC at the FBS level but he's an upgrade over Wilcox?

I will say finally hiring a real RBs coach is an upgrade.

A team that played in the Rose Bowl this year lost 6 assistants. It isn't unprecedented.

It has been proven that recruits families go to VN. I am amazed that we can get anyone to send a LOI to TN. Some of the comments made on here are a disgrace. I realize the fanbase is split over Dooley at this time, but we all should remember the program is more than one person. There is mo doubt we are in better shape now than when Dooley was hired. If he can't get the job done on the field he will be replaced.
No VOL fan should come to this site and bash on the program, the coaching staff. players and recruits. All bashing does it harm the program.

But I'm not. I love the Vols, not every idiot that gets the opportunity to coach the Vols.
you only post in the football side of VN when their is an
opportunity to bash our coach. you are a troll on this side.
you will always be a troll. not because you dont drink the dool-aid but because you always bash the vols by bashing our coach.
also to your buddy hillbilly, you dont deserve the the volnation guru badge.

It's too late to fire him now. He gets another year to prove he only has a job because his daddy coached Herschel.
