As long as LSU is on the outside looking in and not offering, I'm very confident we stay in good shape for Peters.

One of Debo Jones or Otha Peters will be offered at the July camp in the next week. Depends on who out works the other.

Debo gives LSU another inside track to Landon Collins.

We may also make room for both. Especially if we don't start getting a better read on Devall.

So as long as he's not good enough for LSU, it looks good for UT? I'd rather they offer and Dooley go head to head against Miles for a LA kid and get him. It would say a lot about Dooley and his recruiting abilities. Jmo.

If UT is to get back to where it belongs among the contenders of the SEC, then the staff has to win a lot of recruiting battles against the best teams in the SEC.

Peters has already been told he is wanted by the LSU staff. He hasn't received an offer because of a numbers issue at LSU. They already have a couple LBs committed. So, it's not an issue of Peters not being good enough, trust me, he's plenty good.

“I have offers from schools like Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Arkansas, and some other coaches have told me that I am moving up their board,” Peters said. “Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss are a few schools that I’ve talked with recently and will go see. I am still pretty open, and I hope some of these camp visits will turn into offers.”

A recent conversation with Cooper was on the issue of July camp this coming weekend, which Peters has been invited back for.

“I told coach Cooper that I will be there on Saturday for the 7-on-7 with my team, but on Sunday I am going to go to Alabama for camp. I think I will just stay for Sunday, but I am hoping that a good workout will bring an offer. I would love to end up at an SEC school like that.

“After Alabama I might come back to LSU before the camp ends on Wednesday, and then I will head to Ole Miss the next weekend.”

With 15 offers in, Peters has scheduled one visit for the fall, leaving four official trips for him to plan out at a later date.

“I will be going up to Tennessee to see them play LSU,” Peters said. “I’m excited about that one. LSU is obviously the home school, but Tennessee has been on me since the spring going into my junior year, and they offered probably six months ago. That was my first big one, so I like them and their coaches.”

Even when the coaches are on them early, do all the right things it seems and playing time is available in bunches...we are always mentioned as a possibility but the kid is still fishing for those other offers. Man how I miss the old days of Tennessee football and what it meant to kids.

Sounds like he's still hoping for an LSU offer to me. I hope he realizes we NEED him.

So basically he said I have an offer from a school like Tennessee but what I really want is an offer from Bama. I want to go to a school like that. Geez not good at all! I guess the kid never watched college football before 2008 because Bama was crap before then.

Bama won't offer. They have bigger fish. LSU maybe if he really stands out but I doubt it.

Considering that was his Sophmore year of high school, it is understandable that he only has paid attention to the last 3 years.

We all have to understand that in a lot of these kids minds Tennessee is on the same level as a Kentucky or South Carolina till we get them on campus and tell them what we are about.

They were 4 and 5 years old when we won the NC...that doesn't matter to them.

All they know is losing and booing and firing coaches and drama and turmoil.

Not a winning recipe

Well stated.

Stayed only one day at the LSU camp. He won't get an offer, eventhough Chief has been stringing him along. They are taking 4 LB's in 2012 and have them in Feist, Granier, Louis and Davis. Looks good for the Vols.

+1. Did Alabama even have a program before 2008? If they did, they surely never won anything.
