'12 KY DT Keith Thielemann

He is working out for the staff on the 19th. I guess we will see how he stands after that workout. Also, about UK - with Minter moving to a 3-4 front they cut their DT needs in half. Coach told him that they were looking to take min 1 max 2 DT. With Thomas Chapman and Patrick Graffee committing they are out of slots.
Final note - The Weekend of UGA game Boyle will travel to Hancock Co., TN to play on a Friday night. That would provide a chance for the staff to drive up and watch him play.

Usually, switching to a 3-4 means having to get more bigger guys on the line rather than just 1 DT. The DEs are a lot larger. About the size of our current crop of DTs.

I finally got to watch him in pads for the 1st time this year against Rowan County, Ky. in a full game scrimmage. Most of the def. was a 3 man front, and Rowan Co. Center and Guards go 345, 285 and 290. Against that triple team I recorded:

34 snaps
11 tackles, including 3 for loss.
1 penalty for a late hit where he knocked the stuffing out of the QB. Questionable call.

Rowan did not move the ball effectively between the tackles all night. Looks like he is going to be the real deal.

I have to guess that if a kid is ranked the 40th or so best player in kentucky, he is not on our coaches radar.

Thielemann was selected to play in Best of the Bluegrass All Stars Classic, which is the Best of Louisville vs Best of Ky, and the Border Bowl, which is the best of KY vs the Best of Tn (played this coming Saturday in Williamsburg KY at the University of the Cumberlands), and he was also honored by being selected as FIRST TEAM ALL STATE in the Courier Journal.

The Border Bowl is more of a lower division all star game. For the D3, D2, and NAIA guys.

Wish we would look closer at this guy...still really raw but has a similar game to obrien IMO with perhaps a better upside.

I agree, we should take a closer look at him. It appears as if he has been underestimated some. For him to be First Team All State with Towles who already committed to UK, I think there is more than meets the eye with this kid. His head Coach Larry French was quoted saying the best is yet to come from Thielemann. Hope we send someone to watch him.:good!:
