Who are your starting corners heading into fall? Seems like Howard and Bush being in your secondary is very possible from day one.

tracy will start from day one..no doubt. bush will get pt (nickel package)but i doubt he starts at safety his first year. (2 senior safeties)

Ah, that makes more sense now. I didn't know if Bush was CB or S.

Youth movement in Miami. I am excited to follow it.

I cannot wait to see defenses try and match up with our trio of receivers. Bray and Lane in the backfield with Hunter, Rogers, and Patterson flanked out and Rivera at TE. Talk about a nightmare for defensive coordinators to scheme against. :dance2:

Take Rivera out and put Clear in at TE. How big of a group is that? Plus we could still power run the ball behind him and he's a huge target.

I'm good with that. Though I was not as displeased as most were with Rivera last year. He is definitely nothing spectacular but I thought he did a solid job of getting open and catching the ball (with a few exceptions).

I don't hate Rivera either. I think Clear looked good when I saw him limited action.

As much as I love Tennessee and love cheering for the Vols, I feel whatever happens to us in terms of losing recruits we brought on ourselves. You said it yourself that we dropped committed recruits to make room for others. THIS is where we open the door for kids to change their mind and bail on us. It goes both ways and fans crying about "these kids need to understand what keeping their word is" need to look at it through a guy like Cross, Henderson, or Reddings eyes. Long time Vols dropped in hopes of getting a better player. If the coaches can drop you in a heartbeat after being committed for months, a recruit changing his mind in his best interest should be fine as well. Yes, it stings. You just can't have it both ways. Not everything in this world revolves around UT and what is best for us.

I agree with what you said about if the kid is not sure, then do not commit. I also think that if the coach is not going to honor that committment, then they should not allow the recruit to commit to begin with. You can't ask these kids to "keep their word" if our own coaches are not expected to do the same.

Amen -- you are exactly correct and have stated the case well. I have continuously said that we cannot expect a recruit to keep his word when we do not keep our word to our committed recruits and cut them loose expecting to upgrade our class. "It's just business" goes the refrain -- so we recruit over kids that have been committed to us, but then we cry foul when the recruit turns the table on us and switches his commitment to another school.

Yes, both sides do it but we are more culpable because we are the adults in the recruiting game and have a lot of experience at it. The recruit is typically an often naive 17 year old kid going through this for the first and only time in his life and who believes us when we tell him how great he is and how much we need him and want him on our team. Then we cut him as soon as we find another player we like better. That is not right.

I have lost a lot of respect for Dooley because of the way he takes early commitments from marginal players early in the recruiting season only to cast them aside later in the game when it is harder for them to find a good fit somewhere. It is a practice that is morally wrong and he needs to discontinue doing it. He needs to wait until later to take marginal kids so that he knows whether the kid is a "keeper" or not. If he takes a kid's commitment, he needs to honor his word and not recruit over him.

But if Dooley continues to not be a man of his word, do not complain when kids are not true to their word. That is blatant hypocrisy.

Yeah, he totally screwed up their futures. Tailback at Nebraska and a LB in the SEC. He should've let them come here, overlooked them, and let them fade away because he might not ever play them much.

This is what I figured:
“Tennessee already has two really good wide receivers, so that was important to me. I didn’t want to go somewhere where they could just double-team me every game.”

Smart enough to figure out that there aren't that many teams that can shut down both Da'Rick and Justin. I'm just thinkin' if other teams are trying to stop those guys...yeah, CP is gonna fit in just fine. Pretty giddy about the whole thing, here.

Nothing has changed. If my information is wrong, I'm sure there I'll get bashed and there will be much jubilation for some posters because I was wrong. At this point, I'd be shocked if we don't land Patterson. That's my update for the week. When the daily question is asked how I feel about Patterson, feel free to quote this response.

Feels good to get my avatar back. Also, the silence from a few posters is deafening. :whistling:

Wear it with pride. Lol, well done

Btw, Patterson did great in his recruitment. Close to the vest, didn't play it up to different fanbases, and kept it simple. I wish some would follow this model. But I guess you gotta "shock the world" which it never does

Miami...

I am both impressed and amazed at the job Golden did this year. I feel like Dooley worked miracles keeping this class mostly together under the circumstances, but for Miami to have that kind of a class with a high probability of getting completely nailed by the NCAA hanging over its head is indeed a wonder.

Congratulations.

I know everyone is talking about TB getting excited about the WRs, but I imagine Chaney is licking his chops too now that he has so many weapons to plan schems with...
