true, but it wasn't a "pressing need" for us last season either....until J Hunter blew out his ACL on the 4th offensive play of the FL game

I think a guy like CP (if as good as advertised) is worth 1 or 2 wins - especially in tight games.

I'd say James Banks was worth 3 wins in 2003 playing receiver.

FL for sure.

I'd like to see CP come in for the main reason of not knowing how good Hunter will be after coming off such a serious knee injury...

There is no way to be sure JHunt11 will be back to form when this season starts. I really hope he is but ACLs are a tricky thing. Even if rehab goes well and he regains all the strength he has lost, there is always the mental aspect. Worrying about making a cut or taking a hit can change his game until he regains his confidence. Having a WR with CP skill set will be a huge benefit.

I'm not concerned about his confidence too much because the injury didn't involve contact. If he had been in a big hit that popped it, I would be more worried. That said, he will have been making cuts for a while prior to season. I look for him to be out for blood.

Oh, CP will be a boss if he comes here. Trying to stay on topic.

so let me get this straight, hes announcing on tuesday but we wont know til wednesday? any chance it leaks before then or just alot of rampant speculation and false insiders? also when and where can i see this announcement on wed? thanks for any help.

JH will be fine. He may be hesitant through spring and fall camp but I would be willing to bet that he knows what type of Sunday payoff he is worthy of. i predict JH will be at 110% this fall.

opposite for me,,,if it had been a big hit well thats football,,BUT just jumping in the air,,that would make you realize even a simple thing like that can be dangerous.Big weight on a football players mind!

I blew my knee out on a big hit, and the psychological factor of that sucks. Hurt the other one cutting on a play the next year, but it wasn't as damaging in terms of psyche...now all examples aside, he didn't destroy his knee like others have in the past, and because of that I bet he will be fine. Serious injury, but others have come back from worse and been ballers, Willis McGahee anyone?

yea but its not a pressing need either

You are forgetting that there is a very good chance that Hunter will not be back to his pre-injury form until later in the season -- if at all next year.

....and Darick's status is in question also.

If I wanted to be the laughing stock of UT interwebs, be called out on the radio, have UT deliver me a letter to stop, have a recruits mother call me out, have my likeness plastered all over web sites, and have my name added to the pedophile watchlist

I would do it

Sab? Is that you? :eek:lol:

obviously everyones opinions are just that, opinions, but in mine i think j hunt should be pretty ready to go by the first game. rogers is still a big q mark for me too though. i just hope hes happy when he gets his qb back and can produce like we know hes capable of, and hope if we land cp he doesnt get pissed and lose it over having more competition for the ball.

Dooley himself said that there is NO problem with Da'rick. C'mon.

you guys have enough weapons..great player but a not classbreaker
Yeah, but he would be the Ball-Crusher (for our opponents). Put him on the line with JH and DR, and it's like their DB's are bringing knives to a gun fight. Not fair at all...just the way I likes it. :)

well dooley is a smart guy and hes not going to go public with any problems inside the family, plus the media needed to be shut up about it. i am in no way shape or form an insider but a buddy of mine has class with a couple of players who said that rogers , while nowhere near as bad as its played up to be, is in fact a little bit of a trouble maker in the locker room because of his attitude. so theres a little fire to the smoke. tifwiw.

I would love for us to land Patterson, but I'm just not feeling very confident that we do:ermm:..Would love to be wrong more than anything else in the world:)..But I do think we land Davis with no problem;in fact, I am 99.9%(sorry..couldn't resist):naughty: certain that we do..ok..I am 100% sure that we do from what I read on his thread.
You need a few more years of experience before all of that junk. Alot can, and will happen in these next few days. This is By no means a call out at all. Just trying to temper expectations come the first. We will lose one we have a good feeling on, and gain a longshot. It's a great cycle.
