I agree that this is the best RB left on the board but he is going to be a hard pull .Arizona State ( where he was committed ) new head coach is putting on extreme pressure and Oklahoma and Arkansas are in the mix as well.I just hope he will visit as scheduled Jan 13 .....if so we will have a shot.

Like our odds with Williams if we can get him on campus... He can help us right away and runs similar offense at Arizona Western.

None of us are experts including myself or we wouldn't be on VolNation. Coach Graham has a natural eye for raw talent. He was a great himself and possibly the "best looking" back we've ever had at UT in terms of pure talent at that position. Graham ran with quickness, toughness, and heart. Three things that can't be taught. Either have it or you don't and coach Graham had "it". The most impressive part about Graham as a runner was his POSTURE. If he lands Williams, he can teach him that. Notice the film Williams runs at about an 80 degree lean, if he get lean slighly forward, about 95-100 degrees he would look like a clone of Graham(at least on tape). He actually reminded me of Graham watching him run in the video. Land him coach, kid looks like raw and pure talent. Call him "baby Jay"! lol. Let's take this running game back to the old days damn it!!!!

Real interesting that some recruiting experts keep bringing up Pender. It is hard to imagine "re-evaluating" Cross without a pretty solid plan. Cross wasn't all world but his offer list isn't bad either.

Christmas is over but not the season..... Can you imagine if we end up with a back field that contains Mike Davis, Damien Willimas, Lane, and the other incoming freshmen? Wow!!!!

we haven't been that deep in the back field since late 1990s.

His receiving numbers is what catches my eye. Twenty catches for 317 yards, wow! Thats about 16 yards a catch and 4 of those 20 catches were TD's. Get him some space and he's going to do something with the ball. Like his size too, 6'1 220lbs with 4.5 speed is pretty nice!! Reel him in!!

I appreciate the optimism, I really do, but I don't think we land Davis. I don't know enough about how hard we're really pursuing (or if we are at all) Williams.

From what I've read, i just don't think we land the big-time RB we've been hoping for in this class. Next year, however, I feel that may be different.

looks like he has really good hands from the youtube video clip posted earlier... interesting that Rivals listed Alden Hill as a similar player

Webb slightly over Jamal IMO. Of course my opinion is coloured by the fact I hate how Jamal played his last year. That is probably not fair seeing as how he was coming off major injury, but he was extrememly tentative, and I always felt like he was just trying not to get hurt again. He sure did run a lot more violently when he got to the league. If you watch both players at their best(in college)though, I would take Webb.

Yes, in my opinion, pre-injury, Chuck Webb was the best running back at UT that I recall in the last 40 years. He had a very special gift. A very sad injury

Things I notice about Williams is vision, he seems to see the field clearly and accelerates into it with bursts...He would be a dynamic type back in the SEC at the right place. Also seems to be a grinder with power....It would be an interesting catch for us...

Second, I also am curious about the Cross re-evaluation...first the timing ...... there has to be something in the mix or in the plan...to obtain a better back than Cross......CJG must have conveyed this to CDD...Why let go of a bird in hand...

Webb, Cobb and Lewis all had great field vision and prescence....They had sense of knowing where to be and the talent to be there at the right time because of there speed...

I agree on Webb, without the injury he could have been the greatest. Lewis, Cobb, Henry, Little Man, Graham, even Foster - all really special. If Foster had been even close to the shape he is in now there would have been no RB touch his numbers other than Webb. Different styles, but great vision and sense of the moment. But the most fun and exciting of them all was Charlie Garner.
