BUT, mark this down:

Whatever happens here will be a lose/lose for Dooley at announcement. If it's Shannon, Hart has brought in Dooley's replacement. If ANYONE else, Dooley can't amke the big hire, and it's the nail in his coffin.

Wins will be the only thing that fixes this mess. That's fair, and I'm positive.

This kinda stuff is what I was alluding to in this post. There will be much, much more like it:

Said he has not commited yet and CDD said it would be sometimes in the next couple of weeks to name a DC. No names mentioned. Hubbs stated take it for whats its worth

DM hasn't committed yet, Dooley told him a DC would be hired sometime over the next couple of weeks, and they weren't given any names.

I'm not sure I agree with you here. Shannon is a proven outstanding DC, but his efficacy as a head coach was very inconsistent. Unlike Dooley, who has lost one game he was supposed to win, Shannon lost MANY games he was supposed to win as a HC. I agree that his HC experience makes him a possible replacement down the road should Dooley fail (which becomes far less likely with Shannon on the staff I might add), but he is not a proven HC. Continuity would be the only real advantage here, and not to be picky, but this technically is Dooley's hire, not Hart's.

However, I totally agree with your final assessment. It is indeed W's that will make or break Dooley and fix the mess!
