'12 JUCO DT Damien Jacobs (Florida signee)

I haven't followed the boards much the past few weeks so I may be way off but here's my take on Jacobs. First this is an average Juco player nothing special at all. We got all excited when he commited to UT because one we need D-linemen bad and two in hopes that he could pull Autry. Remember his quote "I'm going to work on Autry I think I can get him". My feeling is the staff likes Sentimore better then Jacobs and when it became obvious that Autry was headed elsewhere and that Jacobs had no pull with him we cooled on Jacobs a bit. Like I say I could be wrong but I honestly don't think after getting in good shape with Sentimore the staff looked at Jacobs like a must get type player. I'm not saying we turned him away but I get the feeling the staff didn't make him a priority either. This guy is not a difference maker and not a great loss. Sentimore on the other hand has the potential to be a great player if he works hard and stays out of trouble. He was coming on strong at Alabama before leaving and has the potential to be a big time pass rusher.

Just think about the long term. O'Brien>>>>>Jacobs. Not to mention we have a great chance to land McCullers in the coming weeks. Sentimore and McCullers is a pretty good haul at DL if we get them here.

I don't care that much that he signed elsewhere, I just want an answer, and I don't want to wait for it. Why did he supposedly tell our coaches he was a Vol?

Im just glad he'll still have to enter Knoxville next year one way or another. 2012 is the season for redemption. Its shame D. Jacobs couldn't be apart of it, but thats on him. Go Vols.

Saw this on VQ. Jacobs has apparently posted some stuff on his facebook about UT fans talking smack about him on message boards. I wondered how long we could keep our idiot fans from harassing him.

F'ing pathetic. Every single year we are reminded that message boards and FB crap does affect recruiting and a recruit's decision.

Poor little guy. I feel so sorry for him cause people are talking so bad about him. It's absolutely ridiculous to say that this site causes commits to decommit. Furthermore, no body talked crap about him until he switched to Florida. This site or any other site had nothing to do with him switching. He's just a lying pos. Period.
