Is he actually 230 like he's listed on scout? I would love to see him in a hybrid TE/WR role if so. Great frame and ball skills would be killer and we need a pass catching tight end next year to compliment the receivers.

No.. Jason is 223 as of Friday.

Unless this kid puts on 20 lbs in college he ain't going to be a TE. He does not look or play like a TE in his vids. He is just a huge monster WR like Mike Williams with a better glide.

I have told y'all 1000x times Jay croom is NOT going to gain that much weight. He is built EXACTLY like his father was. Now if my genes finally surface in him, then maybe, but I didn't gain weight until my daughter was born.... soo it ain't looking good for the folks who want Jay to be a TE

Jason has the frame that a college strength and cond program could easily add 20 pounds or so. from what i gather, he wants to maintain his current weight or even a little less and get a little quicker. he wants to be a wr at ut, i hope he is. he will be a nightmare matchup issue for opposing teams.

Croom, based on pure size and physicality, is already a matchup issue anytime he comes in.

That is before CCB hones his skills.

Jared Cook-ish? Not necessarily a switch to TE. But similar players.

I keep comparing him to Sydney Rice, but he's already heavier and taller. Still same kind of toolkit. And you can transition some of that bad weight to good weight with nutrition and S&C. So he could look pretty much exactly the same in a loose shirt and be 20 lbs heavier.

MZTERRY, I'm curious to know if Dooley's obsession with making everyone on the team better as people and as men played into your families decisions. It seems that things Dooley is doing like etiquette, VFL program, etc is to turn this players into men. Besides having Tyler Bray throw to Jason :), was that a big draw?

6'7"?? Hey Mom, is this right? I thought it was more like 6'5"...

Jason's father was 6'7. He's 6"5 and still growing. Growth plate still open.i had it checked not too long ago. think he'll top out as tall as his father was.

Go back and begin reading froM page 123, the day Jay announced his committment. There r so many factors of how UT got us, and im sleepy now..lol too much to type. The VFL program was a pc. of the puzzle but not the factor. We adore the entire Dooley staff. Its not just one particular person or thing. UT had everything i wanted as a parent and everything Jay wanted as a player and from a coach. Tj Dooley. CB heather Kris scott angelina... Pick one! I luv them all.....some schools talk about family atomsphere's.. Step on UT campus and u see and feel the difference. My son could have gone anywhere in the country. We've told schools that wanted to offer since Jay's announcement..No thank u. Cant imagine starting fresh with the process again, and there's really no need to even consider it. We're good where we r.

If he stays at 220 he'll be a huge matchup problem on smaller corners and safeties. LBs would also have a problem keeping up with him. Hopefully he progresses well when he gets here. Very excited with the pass game talent we have coming in.

I may have missed things, living in Iowa and being on the road a lot. This young man scares me with what he can potentially do on the football field. I'm just wondering with his basketball skills he posesses, and whether CDD will let him, is he planning to be a bench player on the basketball team. There has been several football players at Iowa State over the last decade who played on the BB team.
