+1. I was on Facebook the other night, when Croom got on at the same time. I struck up a convo with him just to see how he like Knoxville. We talked for a few mins. Said he loves it there, and that it is great to be around a bunch of guys that have the same work ethic as he does. Said the the team is working very hard. Class act! Oh btw, Mzterry, got my #18 Croomster jersey the other day! Ready to go for August 31st.

This has probably been asked and answered many times but decided to ask again instead of searching through 1000's of posts.
We the release of Cam Clear and the need for more TE's for our offense, any chance Jason Croom could move/wants to move from WR to TE? With his size and speed he could be an awesome TE.
Why? Bc he talked to somebody on Facebook? Baby avatar is harmless, c'mon.. Just look at his avi...
Thanks AC. You don't have to defend me to some of these people that blow things out of proportion. I only friended Croom after he had signed with us and after Mzterry told me that he wouldn't mind it, in order to check out some of the pics of his car and O&W game. Unlike some of you who follow current recruits on twitter and FB, as well as message them, I do not do any of that. Croom is actually a classy kid and talked to me about how hard the team is working together in the offseason. Sounds to me like there is a very good chemistry with this team. Bash away now.

There is NOTHING wrong with following recruits (most like it), and if you act like a grown up, there is nothing wrong with talking to them.
actually the NCAA disagrees with this point when it comes to recruits
contacting students of UT would be different. Not illegal but IMO it's just a little bit odd for a guy in his mid-30s
Actually the NCAA has absolutely no law or policy about fans speaking to recruits. The NCAA doesn't govern the general population. Only those officially affiliated with the university are subject to NCAA rules.
And it's no different from a mid-30s guy to go up to his favorite NFL player in a restaurant and ask for an autograph or express what a big fan he is.
you should read up on the definition of "booster"
yeah it kinda is
Name one case of the NCAA telling a non-affiliated fan to not TALK to a recruit. I'll wait.

no UT fan is "non-affiliated" when it comes to the NCAA. Here's a link, check out some of the posts by LWSVOL

as for enforcement, do you really want to be the first?
Lol, you pulled out the "do you want to be the first?"
I was hoping you'd at least link me to an actuall NCAA stance on it, not some e-poster's opinion.
I repeat, there is nothing wrong with appropriately contacting a recruit who makes himself available for contact, or with saying hello to one you meet on the street. I wouldn't personally do it beyond a "congratulations on xyz accomplishment," but I see nothing wrong with peole who express to recruits how they hope the recruit becomes a Vol.
I see them n real life all the time and talk to them.. Not sure how it's really much different..
the NCAA has made people take down pages devoted to certain recruits. Also, the e-poster you just referred to knows more about it than most on here do. He also posted a letter from UT compliance that includes an email address if you want to know more. Seriously, do some research on it before declaring everything is in line when it comes to compliance. What you find may surprise you (although I doubt you even look)
you interact with potential recruits all the time?
