'12 GA WR Charlie Hegedus

a 10.98 100 is Very slow for someone who "runs a 4.4"

and no one said anything about having to be a 4.4 to be an elite WR.

Ok Sweetheart..Actually many people have eluded to if you dont run a 4.4 your not elite and cant play in the SEC..I dont care how fast he runs we have burners at WR, we need a few possesion receivers to go along with what we already have.

If he runs a 10.98 100m its very hard for me to believe he runs a 4.4.

anything under a 4.55 would be a stretch

WR Hegedus emerges on the board

He ran it at the Atlanta MVP camp. unbiased timing. Doubts such as this are indicative as to why he has to run in front of coaches at their facilities for them to believe it. He had the fastest time in the 40 at our recent camp....and we had a lot of fast recruits there.

This cant be true, it has to be confirmed by a few certain VN posters then i will believe it. lol..jk..Seriously I would love for UT to offer him. I think he can be a player for whomever gets him and I hope its us.

Just a question for the more knowledgable posters : If he is that good and he proved how fast he is in front of all these SEC coaches, why hasn't he been offered yet? Not doggin' the kid, just askin'.

When I was in High School they made me run the 100 and 220 in track to increase my speed to play linebacker. I was a 230lb 4.7 and they wanted me faster. I can tell you from experience that carrying weight jumps on you at the end of a sprint. Charlie is 190+ lbs now which is big for a sprinter...or at least the ones I've seen him sprint against. I don't think it's a valid assumption that he is slow to start and fast to finish....I sure wasn't that way. Regardless, he won the sprint championship in his HS region, in Georgia where there are a lot of fast kids. I think that qualifies him to have the speed to play in the SEC.

An excellent question. He has 7 offers so far, just no SEC offers. I think it's a matter of timing. So far he has run first at UT, then NC State, where he did pick up an offer, then just this weekend at Bama. Given the uncertainty of our scholarship situation with the NCAA violations committee, I'm not surprised we are careful with our offers. I just hope it doesn't hurt us.

Alot of coachs dont offer at camps. Some will wait and evaluate and go from there. Not saying all do this but some do and it could also depend on the committs you have and the room you have for certain positions. Im no expert but he will get a big time offer, just a matter of time. And i hope its us. He may be a little down the list for Wr's on our board but that doesnt mean he cant play.

PS, Bama timed him at a flat 4.50 in their camp this weekend. Football cleats on grass, not track shoes on a good surface. They were very impressed.

With Greg here and all the info that is flowing around, pardon me for jumping to conclusions but I think one of these posters in this thread is Charlie. Will the real Charlie please stand up?

Charlie is not posting. I am 99.999% sure of it. There are just a lot of us that are rooting for the kid

Well maybe not Charlie, but dad or somebody. Too much inside info, IMO.

His dad, for certain, is not. I have stated that I know him. Greg is his uncle and they have been close since Charlie was born. He has other relatives that are fans of other schools, so they are likely posting on their sites, too. But, since Greg played at UT and has been a great supporter of the program, I am not surprised at his knowledge and support of Charlie. I am sure he would love to see him be a Vol, as would I.

I know that the QB on that team really wanted to come here last year but ended up with the dogs. He had some family in ET also.

Not being negative, I wish the young man much success. these kids work as hard as **** and I appreciate that

I just dont believe he is high on the "take" list

and IMO it would take some recruiting loses at WR for us to offer him
