CO, just want to say that I, and I'm surely not alone, greatly appreciate your input on this board. Very insightful
Thanks, just trying to give a different perspective. People get too caught up in measureables. I remember watching the Ole miss game when Dexter ran all over us. Hes not a bruiser, and he WORE US OUT, the entire game. That just shows people that you dont have to have a Henry, Jamal, Foster in the backfield to have a "Good" running attack.
Hell you could even have a Jeff Powell, Transfer from William & Mary, remember the sugar bowl game against Miami ('85 or '86) when he hit that HUGE HOLE and went 60 yards. Bennie Blades who had "World Class Speed" according to the announcers, but the hole was so big that Powell just ran rite by him. If you make running lanes, it wont really matter who is running the ball. This year the holes werent there or the backs missed them. A RB coach would help ALOT. So, we'll see what happens. Just dont bash a kid because hes not 6'2 - 230lbs and runs a 4.24 -40. Just hope and Pray that the Line is BAD-A** next year.

Hey country, you had said a while back that you thought Heistand should return because, if I remember right, that for these young lineman consistency in coaching would be good for the future.
Any changes on your opinion?
Brother at the end of the day, its about Results. The numbers speak for themselves. WE CANT RUN THE BALL.
I dont think a coaching change is ever a "GOOD" thing, when it comes to kids. ALot of kids kinda see coaches as father figures, because some kids dont have dads and its good to have someone in their lives that cares about them. It kinda irritates me when people say that kids dont choose a school for a position coach. Thats not entirely true. Some kids just bond with certain coaches. And I know Harry and hes a Great man, very honest and works his tail off. But at the end of the day when the oline doesnt perform, then that falls on the coach.
I still think that its a matter of what kind of Scheme that the OC and HC is wanting to run in their play calling. Harry is a Old School coach that wants to control the line of scrimmage and pound the ball. And when that doesnt happen everybody says it the position coach not doing his job. Its a tough situation for everyone. I just wish that we were able to run the ball, but we didnt, against anyone. Guys were getting blown back at the snap of the ball. But that could also be attributed to that we dont have "MEAN" guys. I never seen anyone get pissed, anyone get personal fouls called on them for playing mean. Not saying that personal fouls are good, but at least it lets the DLINE know, its gonna be a LONG day. Thats what I want to see. Guys get pissed off, play MEAN, EVERY SNAP.

So, to answer your question, maybe its would be good to get someone else in here that would be better suited to run a "spread" style offense. Because thats what we looked like during the season. Teams knew when we lined up in a "I" that we were going to run the ball off tackle or run a sweep. Thats way too predictable. I think we should be a Run first, play action team. Thats what TN is known for. Yeah its nice to throw the ball around, but when you cant run the ball, teams will just pin their ears back and cause turnovers.
I will go ahead and say that if TN doesnt change their Offensive Scheme and play calling, we wont win 6 games next year. We are too predictable. Teams know when we are going to run and pass. Thats a recipe for disaster. JMHO
Year-over-year improvement has got to start showing if the current composition of our OL is complete right? Seems like our Center play is crucial and lacking. Have you watched film of Mack Crowder from last years' class? You think he's got a future here next year or is he just providing depth until we get a real answer?
This is a wait & see guy for me. He feels like a Martaze Jackson, D. Sapp, & Crump type take.
Last thing we need at RB is a guy who is just used to out running everyone.
Hopefully he will be a willing physical runner.

You ever slapped a guy that stands 6'6 340lbs? Ever think that guy may slap back, and he probably slaps harder than you do? LOL. Some people just arent born mean.
I wouldn't recruit a lineman if he wasn't a mean SOB. Tough teams win more often than not. It all starts with some mean grimey big uglies up front on both sides of the ball.
You are SPOT ON. But its hard to tell if a kid is mean or not. Every kid doesnt have a tape like the O'conner kid.
Thats why I like Certain drills in camps. It gives you at least an Idea of what kind of Motor or Mean streak a kid has. I want a kid thats mean, doesnt stop and even plays dirty from time to time.
Its not just the Center, its the guards too. They are too slow and we dont run enough of a variety of running plays to be effective. The center was blown up by almost every D tackle that we played against this year. I told a buddy of mine, after watching the Montana game, that we are in trouble. Their line was small and they whipped us all game. I mean ALL GAME. It was kinda sad. It got worse as the year went along. But again, they ran the same 5 or 6 running plays, all year. The play calling has to change. Im beginning to wonder why Kiffin called the plays and not chaney. I think we are seeing why now.
Alabama runs the same 5-6 running plays all the time. So does LSU. The difference is in execution. How do you explain these boys that got "whipped by montana" throwing Bama and LSU players around? That is the head scratcher to me. Those DLs are the best in CFB and our boys were whipping them very well at times.
