He's an elite talent. From what I've read he seems repentant (whether it's fake or not, who knows). I trust CDD to make the right decision.

Surely we're not so hard up for decent talent that we'd take a criminal who steals from future teammates? Kid was basically a done deal to the mutts, then steals from future teammates?

To me, this is a sign that we're scraping the barrel in recruiting and desperate for a decent athlete to sign at DB. UT is better than this. Or we should be, anyway. Vols deserve ELITE players and ELITE character.

Personally I don't mind Dooley talking a chance on a kid and giving him a 2nd chance if he feels he is truly sorry for what he did. But... I hope we don't offer this kid, its one thing if a guy gets arrested for a bar fight or something like that but a thief is totally different. You can be sorry and correct a lot of bad behaviors but its been my experience that once a thief always a thief. This guy has trouble written all over him...

Think this guy is still very much in play for UT..DB's are an obvious target for CDD in this class and would not mind seeing him take a flyer on this kid. Known that he has been accused of some things but maybe the VFL program is just what he needs...JMO

We have had alot of contact in and out of Carver High School the last few years...

I do not mind if CDD takes a chance on a kid. He needs to place other players of high character around him to hold him accountable and out of trouble. If we take him, keep an eye on him. Will be a good test for this young Man and our vol for life program.

at age 16, he made a dumb mistake.

We still wanted Pender who hit his girl and took her car, but a guy stole some ipod's and iphones and we dont want him?

When I played college football, we had one of the incoming freshman with me steal another players credit card. Charge items to it, ect. STUPID MISTAKE. But the coaches handled it, dealt with the situation, and the kid move through the program and ended up being a great player for the team for several years.

Mistakes happen, especially when the kid was 16-17 years old.

You have to speak with the kid, and see how he reacted to losing a year of football because of one mistake.

If anything it could have caused a complete 180 as he realized how much he needed it.

While all of these dont work out, I do think some or worth the risk.

I am all for this kid.

Think staff likes Bonner better than D. Harris. Also imo have a better chance at landing him than we do Harris.... Staff would take a Bonner commit in an instant IMO...

We have guys on the team who have made mistakes in their pasts... besides, stealing from a UT lockerroom is a crime... stealing from a UGA locker room not so much. :D

Some question in other threads about taking Bonner and Shelton. IMO CDD and staff would wait on Bonner and take Shelton if Bonner is a no go or commits elswhere. Anyone have an opinion on taking both???

Bonner is a 5 star talent who made a 5 star mistake... He would be on a very short leash I'm sure wherever he goes
