12 Ft Statue!

UT has gone overboard with the statues and street names...This should have been the first and one of the few put up! To me it has been cheapened!

I agree with the street names.

I think this is fitting given that the stadium is named after him.

Does anyone know where these wax statues are at? I've never seen them, and would like to chech em out.

Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex if I'm not mistaken. In the front is the UT Football Hall of Fame. They used to (and I assume they still do) have lots of cool stuff including the 98 Sears Trophy, UT-UK beer barrel (probably gone now), and I believe that's where the wax statues are.

Not anymore, they were taken down two years ago.

Thanks I appreciate it!

They were going to move them to the new workout facilities in the middle of August for the new football season and to highlight the unveiling. The guys got them outside after much work and took a lunch break. When they came back all that was left was a couple of puddles of wax with football helmets on top.

Maybe UT can build a wax museum on campus somewhere, and put wax figures of famous UT coaches and athletes all over the place. They can charge $5 for admission and make big money!

I posted in another thread that I think it would be cool if we had a few statues -- maybe lining a walkway. . . .could have a few Vol greats. I don't know of anywhere else that has such a monument to its football program. Reggie would require a lot of bronze, that's for sure.
