Makes sense with all the great Running-Backs UF has had lately. They have been sending RBs to the NFL like crazy. Great move for Jones.

right now, its the flagship in state program and they just changed to a pro offense.

HUGE get...still early but Muschamp is focus on Armwood, STA and Venice. UF's after three + players at each school. Not sure what Meyer was doing but Jones said that UF didn't seem to high on him before.

I don't know if I would call them the flagship instate program. You could say that 2 years ago, but not anymore. FSU had an overall better record than UF last year and beat them very handily. FSU is definitely on the rise and I don't know if I can say the same about UF. And UF's offense didn't perform very well last year. They do need a change.

you honestly dont know if UF is the flagship program of the sunshine state?

they have won 2 Natil Titles in 5 yrs, been to 3 SEC Champ games and I believe have 5 Bowl game Ws...

in 2011 FSU will have the same transition problems at QB that UF had this yr

One Loss to FSU doesnt & hasnt turned things around

Ahhh...rationalization is a beautiful thing.

Haha yeah Jay I didn't know UF had won the 2 NCs the last 5 years.

If you would remember in your post you put, "right now, its the flagship instate program". So excuse me for taking it that you meant they were the superior FLA program right now. I also said in my post "you could put they were 2 years ago". Obviously they were great during the Meyer-Tebow era. I never said they weren't. But after last season's nightmare and Meyer leaving they aren't nowhere near the level they were on in the past IMO. And also IMO FSU is set to have the better years coming up. That's my opinion and you can have yours. But there is no need for you to put words in my mouth.

thats like saying Texas or USC isn't the Flagship program in their state. Last time I looked, UF had beaten FSU 6 years in row, 2 MNC since 2005 and 27 more wins over that time, while playing in the SEC. FLAGSHIP

For the last time I put that referring to the present time. Jay posted that UF was the flagship program "RIGHT NOW". I know all about UF so you don't all have to give me all the stats. I know what kind of success UF has had over the years. I know how many times they beat FSU in a row. I understand. But IMO FSU is on the rise and UF is kind of floundering right now where they are at. They have the talent, but there is an uncertainty with Muschamp at HC and I don't like their QB situation. FSU had the better record last year and IMO they will have the better record this year. I'm sure UF will be right back to the yearly 10-11 win seasons soon, but it will take a few years and a QB.

Very, very surprised by this one. Surprised he committed this early at all, but VERY surprised it was to UF after 1 visit and to a coaching staff he has a 2 month relationship with. Especially since he has been so high on UGA all the way up until right before the visit.

Great pickup for the Gates though. Congrats, HG, provided it sticks.

Should be interesting to see if he stays after Muschamp shows off that 5-win magic he hopefully brought with him from TX.

with Uga getting Crowell and being so high on Marshall and the instate kid(?) I think Jones sees this as a better fit. Kid said he was always high on UF but past staff didn't seem too high on him. Demps/Rainey are SR so going into his Fr. year will have only two running backs on scholly.

I agree and he is probably right. Crowell/Marshall with Malcome for "power/short yardage" runs probably looked a good bit more daunting to Matt than UF's backfield.

So long as we get Marshall, I am just fine with only 1 RB in this class for us. Our numbers are kind of tight anyway and we need WRs.

If by the "other instate kid" you mean Drake, he committed to Bama today. We haven't offered any other RBs, except Shell out of PA, so far. Needs to change and Davis and Loyal need offers.

who's FSU's QB?

dont go buying into those Seminoles just yet.

EJ Manuel. I think he has great upside. Great athlete and in the ACC it won't be too hard to put up numbers. Especially with the talent he should have around him. And I'm not saying he is great, but I don't know if I'd take any UF QB over him.

And I'm not buying into the Seminoles. All I said was I think they will have a better record this upcoming year which in turn will give them a better bowl. They should have a better record than UF by default about every year considering that they play in the ACC.

Ej Manuel is not good. Take away his Rivals HS ranking and you're looking at someone who shouldn't be starting for a top 40 program

He isn't a good QB. I agree with that. But he is a great athlete and when you factor in all his surrounding talent and an easy ACC schedule it won't be hard for him to look good. Hell I don't think Brantley should be starting for a top 40 program either. He looked bad last year.

FSU will have a good defense and a good running game IMO. That alone will make them successful especially in the ACC. I'm pretty sure all their runningbacks come back and we all know what defense they always have. Their recruitng class was sick too. Crazy talent in that class. On paper at least. I'm not trying to say they will be NC contenders because they won't, but they will be successful next year. They have a talented team and play in a fairly easy conference. Those are ingredientes for success usually.
