Thanks folks, yes, I'm a proud dad. Now all my kids are out of high school.

I'm retiring June 29th. I think it's time to pull the plug and see whats ahead for this old guy. :)

Tough to attract a QB with Bray having 2 years left and Worley and Peterman being young. It wud have to be a kid who pretty well knows he's gonna RS or cocky enough to think he'll beat out 2 QB's already at UT with big head start. The more I read/hear about Peterman I'm not so sure Worley can hold him off in 13 (if Bray is gone). Peterman wud only be a RS Freshman in 13. However we can't afford to go another year without a QB coming in system. If Bray leaves we're only 2 deep in 13.. Not good..

Nate is not redshirting this year. Dooley has pretty much already said that.

Koach, I know what you mean. My wife already has the honey do list ready.:)

I4 and AC, thanks for the kind words. I've enjoyed my time with the SO, and though we don't often hear nice comments, we know most of the folks out there appreciate what we do.

I was surprised at the news of Ferguson as well but sounded as if UT has been his childhood dream school. Competition is always good and in a league as fiercely competitive as the SEC, you can easily go through the depth chart at QB in just one game - i.e. The Gators last year, i.e. us last year.

But I concur with you as well on the stock of Peterman. I think it is going to rise quickly, even if Bray is still here in 13. The guy is a competitor and I don't see him just fighting to be second in line. As I have said before, it will be interesting to see how things turn out this fall. Killed me to see him not play in the O&W Game...

I'm with you, Sir. Nate is going to be great. Can't wait to see him start for ya'll.

Retired today, so when he is the starter, I hope to get up for a game sometime.

Congrats on your retirement. Hopefully I'll be there soon too... just another 35 years or so!

I really hope Peterman is a great QB for us but I think everyone is too quick to write off Worley. He struggled some last year but he was a true freshman that got thrown in against some of the best teams in the country and he showed some potential while he was out there. I think it's going to be an interesting battle once Bray is gone and it could go either way IMO. Either way is fine with me..whoever wins the the competition will have my full support. But I just think we are too quick to say Peterman is our next guy after Bray with Worley on the team.

I keep hearing rumblings of him seeing playing time this season for running situations? This is dumb for a number of reasons, but regardless I hope he keeps his redshirt so we don't have a repeat of the worley situation.

I hate that argument. You mean the situation where Matt Simms wasn't good so the coaches had to play Worley in order to compete? God forbid our coaches play the best available player.

If Peterman, or anyone else, gives us a better chance to win games, put him in the game. Period.

My point was it didn't make sense for him to see playing time if Bray is healthy. The coaches had to put Worley in and I'm not disputing that... Excuse me for hoping for a better season where we could actually redshirt players and build quality depth for the future.

I guess it's a balance between redshirting Peterman and using him in a special package. If we see him playing a few snaps per game this fall then the coaches must think that the benefit he gives us in winning games now is worth a year of eligibility.

My bad, I thought you were saying the coaches shouldn't have played Worley at all. Some think "burning his redshirt" was a travesty. I apologize. :peace2:

I doubt the coaches will play Peterman this fall if Bray stays healthy but if they do, and he performs well, I'll be glad they did.

To compare though, think back to 2006 with Florida's situation. IIRC, Leak didn't get hurt the whole year. But, they had special packages designed where Tebow could come in and run the ball, or occasionally throw. If he had redshirted, God forbid, we would have had to deal with ANOTHER year of Tebow, because he was never gonna leave UF early. Would UF have won the title without Tebow? It's possible, but having those designed plays made them a better team for sure.

Not saying that Peterman is going to be Tebow at all. But, if the coaching staff has a set package that they like Peterman running, instead of Bray, I'm all for it, IF it's going to make us a better team. If Peterman is going to be the next Bray, or potentially better than Bray, who's to say he stays for his fifth senior season anyway? Most don't do it these days.
