'12 FL QB Nathan Peterman (UT signee)

Peterman reminds me of former 5* Clemson recruit Willy Korn out of Byrnes HS in South Carolina. I think this kid has some potential to be a good one especially with the receivers he has coming in with him. Throws a good ball and shows some mobility as well. Korn had better scrambling ability, but I think Peterman has better footwork and arm strength. I'm interested to see how he develops in a year or two this staff might have found a diamond in the rough in Peterman

He does look like he is physically mature. He has the happy feet. Makes some pretty good decisions, and he seems to be ellusive. The only problem with highlight film is it is just highlights. I think he can be molded into a great qb though.

He can run, but don't think you are getting a QB that is going to run for big yardage every game. He'll take a hit and throw it rather than run.

He can scramble and make yardage and he isn't afraid to lower his shoulder on someone. He's tough to bring down.

What do you think Jay?

After watching his highlight vid. I agree, he looks a little like Aaron Rodgers, Ben Rothelisberger(sp), he scrambles till someone gets open and gets rid of it but if they don't he'll tuck it and run.

He's playing in the Offense Defense game in Dallas, Texas on the 29th of December. It will be nationally televised.

It's insane how much better he's gotten over a year. His release is a lot quicker, and his velocity seems to be a little better. Great footwork, mobility, and accuracy. We got a steal here, IMO.

And he will have some great ones at UT!!! Go Vols!

I completely agree. I hope my statement didn't seem negative. I was thoroughly impressed with his mechanics and physicality; the receivers just also impressed me too.

No. Jake Locker accuracy has always been his achilles.

Nate's accuracy is not a problem

I didn't see your statement as negative. Our receivers were great and that's why they both have scholarships, Bobby Walker at Troy and Jared Crump to Wake Forrest.

Bobby had a sprained ankle the last 2 weeks. We sure missed him last week at Armwood. They were able to double up on Jared.

I think the accuracy problems are exaggerated. He can make throws only few QB's can make. They have similar build, pocket awareness, and arm strength. Locker is faster, but Peterman is more accurate.

I hate comparing him to the best QB in the league (Rogers), but they do look similar.

Sorry if this question has been brought up already (didn't want to scroll through 20 pages to see). Do we stand a chance, and would we consider taking the Pitt commit Chad Voytik from Cleveland, TN, now that the Pitt coach pulled a Kiffin and ran off in the middle of the night?

Is he better than Peterman? I'd think the staff has some loyalty to Peterman, because he has been so firmly committed, but would we take both?

Highly doubt it. The staff loves Peterman, and I think Voytik is over rated. Only taking one QB.

Good chance Vandy will go after him hard then. Can't imagine he wouldn't open up his recruitment at least, unless his family is from Pitt or something like that.

Both QBs look good to me. I'd prefer Peterman because he's been all Vol from the beginning, but thanks for the answer on whether or not we'd take more than one QB.

Staff never offered Voytik. They had plenty of chances to evaluate and offer before Peterman commit which, as many will remember was dramatic (finding the QB in this class I mean). The staff kept going different directions away from Cleveland.

Not 100% on this, but I think he may have Pitt ties.

A little bit of information on Peterman and his participation in the Offense-Defense All-American Game:

Joining him on the East roster will be Fruit Cove (Fla.) Bartram Trail's Nathan Peterman, a 6-2, 210-pound Tennessee commitment who threw for 2,940 yards and 36 touchdowns as he led his team to the state title game against No. 2-ranked Armwood. Peterman flew up boards as a senior and is rated as the No. 10 pro-style quarterback by Rivals.com.
"Mauk and Peterman are both accurate passers who can sling the ball around," said Offense-Defense Director of Player Personnel Josh Buchanan, "Mauk compares to Chase Daniel while Peterman's accuracy will make him a hard player to keep off the field at UT."
