You and Tux are both correct except Saban had a lot more talent and upperclassmen than UT had after Kiffin left. I agree that in 4 to 5 years, 2013 and 2014, UT should make big things happen like championships and BCS bowls.

The problem with 2013 and 2014 is that the bulk of our talent will be headed off to the NFL. I do not think we are doing an adequate job of replacing players like Justin Hunter, DaRick Rogers, Tyler Bray, etc. I guess only time will tell, but I am affraid that even if we have a great year in 2012, it will drop back off in 2013.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Dooley and staff are absolutely killing it in recruiting.

For a team that has gone 5-7, 7-6, 6-7, 5-7 to be in top 25 is an accomplishment. Doing it 4 recruiting classes ('10, '11, '12, '13) in a row is unheard of.

Want playmakers? Patterson, Howard, Croom, Bowles, Bourque...need more?

Worley & Peterman are both good enough to lead this team to a championship.

If we win and Dooley is safe this year's recruiting class should raise the bar back to the 90's level...not an exaggeration whatsoever.

Pretty sure bray and CP will be back next year. Just remember what Martin and Price almost single-handidly did in the passing game after Manning, Kent, Nash, and McCullough left

Basically what he said up there ^

The line will be back in 2013. The backs will too. I also think 2013 the defense will have the ability to be Top 10 good if players continue to progress. Patterson, Croom, Bowles, and Howard will be decent as a WR corps. Peterman or Worley should be okay seeing it won't be their first year in the system. I'm more worried about the 2014 recruiting class. Needs to be Top 5 if Dooley is still here.

Holy crap man...we had to miss on three recruiting classes in a row (06-09) to sink to the depths we've been through. Dooley has put together two solid classes with stars on both side of the ball.

I'd say we'll be ok.

Oh lilesrt, just can't ever have your glass half full can ya?

In all honesty what has Tennessee done the last 4 years to warrant seeing the glass half full? I apologize for not putting on my orange shades every time I get on VN, like 3/4's of the fans on here do, but I tend to see things more objectively. When Tennessee shows something positive on the field (as in beating a quality opponent/learning how to overcome adversity) then I will be more positive. Until then, call me a skeptic. It is all fine and dandy. We all have a right to our opinions, even if you disagree with mine. I just ask that posters do it in a respective way. Oh, and as disgraceful as it was for us to lose to Kentucky the way we did last year, I personally believe that the debacle that was the Arkansas loss was far worse. Tennessee Orange jumping all over the field trying to tackle Adams on that punt return was like a cartoon film. I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. As far as our Defense and offense needing improvement.... let's go ahead and throw in the special teams unit as well. That aught to pretty well cover all phases of the game. Except for the infamous "intangibles" that Derek Dooley seems to harp on 24/7. On that note this "NegaVol" is out. Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
Go Vols!

The "I don't wear orange colored glasses", "I am not a sunshine pumper" or "I am a realist/ more objective" is as tired as the other side calling people "not a real fan".

I don't doubt that one bit. It seems like every subject in regard to UT fandom has been elaborated on a few hundred times. And that is okay. I just get tired of the smart remarks from posters who disagree with posts that I make just bc they are not in alignment with Tennessee winning 10 games this year. I've cut my posts way down bc of that very reason. I like the info that is brought to the site, but it seems as though VN has been high jacked by immaturity and closed minded-ness as of late. I thought OCIvol brought good info to this site. Sure enough, you guys have done run his butt off as well. It is ridiculous.
