I feel if he wanted to be a Vol he would have already done so. Doesn't look good to me. No way to compare our offer with Cincy. We , by far, have much more to offer. If he cannot see that pretty plainly I am not sure we need him.

Or it could be that he said before his visit that he would announce Thursday or Friday. But it could be what you said.

Clearly, you don' following recruiting. Didn't some kid choose a school because there was a Chic-Fil-A (or was part of the reason for his choice)? Kids are attracted to pretty simple things. You don't think kids care about working out in the best facilities? You're kidding yourself.

Yeah, that is definitely true in some cases. However, I have read a couple of Jacksonville newspaper articles on Mister Bynum and he comes across as being a very intelligent young man. His observations on the difference between the Cincy workouts and the Vols showed a deep level of understanding of the subtleties.

Kids don't give a s#$% about tradition or facilities. Last i checked all schools have a weight room. Just bc ours has a mini bar and elevators do sent mean a kid is a vfl once he sees it.

If they didn't, what would be the purpose of showing them off and upgrading?

A strength and conditioning coach will be able to show a recruit the benefits of having facilities such as Tennessee. Now having said that I am not saying that will lock any recruit with that advantage alone, but it is enough of an advantage that schools spend a lot of money on it. jmo.

It sounds to me like the kid is having a struggle between his heart and his mind. If you go back and read some of his feelings about UC, and why he committed there in the first place, you will see he loved that team (I mean the actual people on the team, not the school itself). I think he knows the Vols are a better offer for him logically, but that doesn't mean he will come here. I agree with Jackson on this, it will not suprise me at all for him to stick with Cinci. I will not feel slighted by it either. I wish Peters had that much about him. Last freakin weekend...you gotta be kiddin me.

I agree. Hope we can pull him our way.

He is "no longer part of Dooley's staff". I keed, I keed. :)

I think when Peters signed with Arkansas Skeeter threw his crystal ball agaist the wall and come to grips with the fact that regardless of where he works he doesn't know anymore then anyone else.

I haven't taken the time to read through the many pages since I last checked this thread, but if it's still between us and Cincinnati, I don't even think there's a comparison. Unless you're born in Cincinnati, both of your parents graduated from there, and your dad is now the AD, what right minded kid would accept a full ride there over a program with UT's status and potential.

Sounds like we found our future ILB!

Status and potential? No offense, but we've been pretty freaking bad lately.

It just varies by the kid. It's ridiculous to say that the kid should choose us because of tradition, etc. if that's not important to him.

Did Cincy not build a new like 60 million dollar training facility to try to keep Kelly coaching there? Just seems like I remember that happening before he jumped ship to N.D.

I know they finished some upgrades recently, I think the Varisty Village project or w/e. They're in the process of trying to get the stadium upgraded to at least 50,000. In the meantime they're playing one or two games at Paul Brown Stadium.

Inky Johnson came here over MSU due to us having a McDonalds close by. You would be surprised what seals the deal with recruits.

Wrong. Skeeter does know more than most, but in the end nothing is 100% until the LOI is sent.

Linebacker Kenneth Bynum had given his commitment to Cincinnati, but he will not be signing his letter of intent on Wednesday.
Bynum's father confirmed to CBSSports.com on Wednesday morning that his son would delay signing so that he could visit Tennessee this weekend.

The Raines (Fla.) product measures at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds and is considered a three-star prospect.

While February 1st is the first day that recruits can officially sign letters of intent to a school, players don't have to sign right away. Last year Jadeveon Clowney, the top player in the country, didn't sign his letter of intent to play at South Carolina until February 14th.Keep up with all the latest from National Signing Day at CBSSports.com's National Signing Day Central.

this is especially true when they have 2 options they feel are equally good fits for them - this happens a lot and so many times it is something close to a coin flip

Yeah, but we have also made our mark as a traditional powerhouse for 100 years before our bad run. Nothing against Cinncinnati, but in the grand scheme of things Tennessee will always have a superior foorball program. Not just facilities, but conference affiliation, TV contracts, tradition, state of the art athletic facilities, a clearer pipeline to the NFL, national recognition, etc.

It's not even close. It may seem that way due to Tennessee being down, but with the last 3 years of solid recruiting, it's hard to believe that trend will continue.

I agree with you except on facilities. It's impossible to measure who has "better facilities." I also think it's ridiculous for people to say that when they have absolutely no knowledge of the UC Facilities.
