'12 FL DB A.J. Leggett

Seems like I remember reading that Marshall can admit kids that don't qualify at all. Do they have some special exemption from the NCAA?

Conference USA still allows for Prop 48 students, well 1/yr, if i remember correctly. The SEC does not.

Any chance this happens tomorrow with Leggett?

I think it's possible. Hubbs had this to day earlier tonight...

I think they are pretty decent shape with Leggett and Davis. But I'm not declaring anything done.

My guess is if they can get him admitted, he'll be a Vol. And they wouldn't have brought him in on an OV if they didn't think that was possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but they won't know the admission part until months from now...right?

Right.

It's a gamble either way. But if we have a scholly left over, they will try it. Worst case is he doesn't get in and we have an extra scholly for 2013.

Thanks... sounds like we might be waiting for an academic approval. Hopefully, whoever does that paperwork will move it to the top of the pile tomorrow AM.

I'd definitely call Leggett a gain over Santos for one of the few remaining spots. So, if it happens, that's a positive weekend exchange, imo.

This.

I really feel that they wouldn't have even tried if they didn't think they could get him admitted at all. Sure, he still may not, but I think the coaches think he's worth the risk.

He is still taking classes. They have to get his transcripts from 3 different high schools. It will be a long process and he would probably be one of the last guys on campus if we do sign him on NSD. That is if he gets in at all. Online courses and multiple transfers are always sketchy at best.

A Marshall reporter seemed very confident that they would keep him, I don't believe it if we can get him in. Looking on the Marshall Rivals, You'd think they thought of themselves as a Top-Flight program.

That's cute. Only way they keep him is if we can't get him admitted, and or cleared.

There would have be an admissions preliminary evaluation done early as soon as they had a transcript to review.

My guess is we will only take him if we are going to have 24 signatures allowing for his risk to be worth it.

Would a 2.2 and a 22 qualify under normal circumstances (i.e. no transfers or online courses)?

Seems well worth the risk as an athlete we need... now or later.

The 22 would be good.

It's not so much about the grades and test scores. It's the multiple transfers and anytime online courses are involved they are alot more picky. It's a spanish and a math course.

We are batting against the NCAA + SEC... I really don't know. I thought Eddrick Loften would have somehow made it in by now but that never happened.

Correct. It's a win, win. As big of a homer as I am, no way we get all of our big targets left.
