'12 FL ATH Marcus Allen

He hasn't been there yet. On the road to Louisville as I post. Vandy earlier today.

You think he is about to commit, it seems like you know him and his family.

Edit: For some reason I thought he came to camp.

I personally do not think he is anywhere close to making a decision. He has a ton of offers and will get a couple more after he camps this summer. The Vols are definately in the mix though.

Marcus, is that you?
Getting MA on campus is huge. Great way to get some face time with the coaches and experience UT's version of the red carpet. I really hope MA ends up picking UT!

Probably the most potential of any 2012 LB prospect. I hope he realizes that TN wanted him while FSU is about to offer because they missed on a couple of LB prospects.

99% of prospects dont care about the situation leading up to their offer. If he gets an FSU offer its going to be extremely tough to land him IMO.

The only thing I know is Tennessee better find some reallly good Linebackers in this class along with defensive lineman or it's not going to matter how they recruit at other positions.

From ESPN:

Tall, lean, fast and athletic and, Allen could project on both sides of the ball in college and has a ton of upside. Longer frame does hint of continued physical development and the addition of 10-15 pounds of bulk making outside linebacker his likely spot. Flashes very good range and pursuit speed on defense. Quick first-step and very good downhill burst allows him to pursue inside-out to the football and make a lot of stops near the line of scrimmage. Has the great quickness and instincts to beat blockers to the point of attack and the strong downhill filling strength to stack the run and hold his base. Would like to see him use his hands more when shedding. Strong tackler but needs to become more consistent as a wrap-up tackler and avoid leaving feet. Pursues with a high motor and displays good lateral quickness and agility when scraping off-tackle. Flashes good chase speed and acceleration needed to make plays sideline-to-sideline. Closes strong and fast but is a bit straight-lined and shows some hip tightness overrunning the ball at times and when trying to bend or change direction sharply. Could have difficulty breakdown and mirroring in space at the major college level and matching up with quicker slots in man-to-man coverage. Called upon to frequently blitz and pressure but does show good anticipation skills and breaking quickness jumping underneath routes in zone coverage. He certainly has the athleticism, ball skills and overall tools to mold into a a quality zone coverage linebacker and also match up with tight ends and backs in man schemes. Shows flashes of that athleticism on offense. An upright, slashing runner who can shed tackles and be difficult to wrap up when he gets his big frame running North. Has good burst out of his cuts and acceleration through the second level. Runs hard with a good a speed-to-power combination and has the strength to wear down a defense and earn quality yards after contact. Displays flashes of above-average outside speed but feel he is at his best when he plants his foot in the ground and gets downhill, square to the line of scrimmage. Has featured back potential if he can learn to run more behind his pads and continue building strength, power and explosiveness through his hips and lower body. Lacks great elusiveness and lateral movements when projecting as a major level back but can catch the ball out of the backfield, block and pound the rock with good strength and straight-line speed. Overall, Allen may have better pure measurables and tools than polished skill-set at this point when projecting as a RB or LB prospect, but this guy has a very high ceiling and impact type ability if a team is patient with his development.

Everyone is sleeping on Arkansas. They have a real shot.

Totally agree.

I believe this is his first visit.

Some guys on TOS rumoring he may commit today.

But I would take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, considering what has been said about Dooley's multi-visit preference, it may not happen if this is his first. But, anythings possible.

Well how many times did Henderson visit?

I think that is overstated...I just think Dooley doesn't like to take a commit of a kid until he can tell he is 100% a Vol.

Most kids take 3 or 4 visits for that to happen, especially the out of state kids. BUT, if a kid is adament that he is ALL VOL then I don't think Dooley turns them away, (unless he questions their talent and if they are worth taking in that regard).

Yea, the multiple visit thing is overblown. Saulsberry, Smith, and Harris all committed after only one visit. I'm sure there are more that committed early and only visited once.

The multi-visit thing is totally overstated and was blown way out of proportion by someone and now everyone takes it as gospel. Ask any of the mods on VQ or Scout or 247. It's just not true, especially with a kid from Florida like Allen that has to put a lot of effort getting here just once.

Unless they are the dumbest coaching staff on this planet they would definitely accept a commitment from this kid if he wanted to be a Vol today or tomorrow.

Seems plausible.

I think the coaches use the multiple visit excuse as a way to get kids that they aren't ready to accept their commitment to wait. If that makes sense
