Do coaching staffs not check grade transcripts before they offer a kid a scholarship? Is someone not doing their job?

Probably knew already, but just giving the kid some confidence and the want to do better, with a chance of making it in. Who knows.

Since we offered him in Fall semester, you didn't have his term grades. He could have stepped up in the classroom and made good fall grades. Just one of those..

Academically.

Yes, we are now Vandy :) The good news is he wasn't up to Bama's either, atheletically speaking of course, not academically. Now if we could match Bama's standards by lowering our academic standards while raising our atheletic standards we would be fine. Like I said, he wasn't up to our standards.

SIAP, in the chatroom on TOS tonight, they said that Crawley had grades, "as bad as I have ever seen."

Which most likely means he did not turn in his homework. And failed all his tests. Something went terribly wrong there. Too bad.

This is hard for me to understand.. I had guys that played with me in high school that tested about as well as a brick, but our coaches made sure they got all the help they needed to pass their classes.. Two of my best friends on the team scored under a 16 on the ACT the first time, and still went on to play college ball.. There were several more on the team that have similar stories.. If Crawley has the same support at his school, he would almost have to TRY to fail out..

Quite the accomplishment

There is an article on Rivals saying he is now fully qualified and is good with his ACT score.. looking at Colorado, UGA, Maryland, and Oklahoma

what happened?

I read the quote that he had/has one of the worst transcripts out there. It doesn't really matter though, he's going to Maryland if they can get him in.

If that's true what the hell were our coaches doing wasting time on this kid.

these kids don't hand over grades, these coaches have to ask for them from his teachers or schools. im sure neither was done until push came to shove.

it's high school dude. If teachers wanted they could take all of his late homework from the beginning of the year and accept it. I don't think there's really any laws regarding how teachers grade students.
