Didn't want to find the post but I'm not hating on you, Sab. I didn't catch the sarcasm in your love/hate about Crawley. Still not sure I do because I really thought you liked Hegedus.

I like Heg, sure. I like this guy too.

Apparently he was on campus again today..

"He went on a visit today and committed to Tennessee," H.D. Woodson assistant Wayne Johnson said. "It came down to several schools, he was liking Georgia a lot, loving Georgia, but I think it really came down to those schools.

"He liked what he saw from both programs and liked Tennessee more."

"The coaches loved him. He talked a lot to his recruiting coach and talked to Coach Dooley regularly. It was good for him to talk to the head coach. Also, his defensive back coach kept showing him the love."

Johnson went in-depth on what the Vols are getting in Crawley.

"That kid is going in the league if he does what he is supposed to do and learn that system," he said. "He's pretty fast, an agile cat and an athlete. He's got knowledge of the game, knows down and distance and knows how to play with leverage. He's got at reading and the three-step drop. He's a good, tall cornerback and Tennessee landed a real good one. I've been at H.D. Woodson 19 years and I've coached a lot of guys, 28 players have played in the NFL and he's probably in the top two."

I don't see why one cannot like both. It is just nice to get a jab in at the haters every once in awhile. They're so predictable.

That's what I didn't understand at first. I didn't sense the sarcasm when you were downplaying Crawley.

So what happens with Crawley if A&M joins the SEC?

I'm hearing they're really pushing for it now because of his commitment

"I'm really excited about it," Crawley said. "They had been on me since I camped down there and I didn't want to rush things. Tennessee is the place that I couldn't get out of my mind and I realized it's where I want to be. The coaches were so excited. I think they were more excited than I was."

Crawley credited his relationships with head coach Derek Dooley and linebackers coach Peter Sirmon. He can remember conversations over the last few months that sealed the deal for the orange and white.

"Coach Dooley and coach Sirmon did an excellent job of being up front and honest with me," Crawley said. "They told me they wanted to make me a better man. I fell in love with the place and it's just an amazing program."

Sirmon laid the groundwork with his honest recruiting pitch. Like several other committed future Vols, Crawley loved Sirmon's demeanor and integrity.

"Coach Sirmon came down and he was always straight forward," Crawley said. "He didn't try to sell me on dreams. He just told me they needed me and I think I needed them. I wanted to be a part of something special and I'm going to come in and play ball. Just do what I know how to do."

All that sounds great, although it's coming from the kid's coach. Coaches are going to make their own players sound fantastic. Saying he's one of the top 2 players he's ever coached with 20+ players playing in the NFL is a huge statement though. That's probably an honest statement, too.

:good!:

#18 CB on ESPN:

Crawley has the size, ball skills and athleticism college coaches covet out on the perimeter. While he is slight in stature and needs to add bulk, he possesses good height and length and the ranginess to make a lot of plays in coverage. Speed is good but he tends to build it and lacks great initial explosiveness. Savvy athlete with good ball and awareness skills. Fluid pedal and overall footwork for his high-cut frame but we would like to see him become sharper and more crisp in his footwork. Better breaking on the pass in front of him than flipping his hips in transition. Shows good breaking quickness and has the length and range to recover long. Quick footwork and agility allows him to mirror receivers tightly in off-man coverages. Best asset may be his high-point skills and jump-ball defense. Possesses good height and leaping skills needed to match up with today's taller college receivers. Plays the ball not the man displaying very good body control and athleticism. Tackles low on run support but is not very assertive and quick to mix it up. Lacks great physicality and strength and it could be an issue when asked to press and jam bigger college receivers and set the edge on run support. Still a very talented corner with smooth, natural movements for his height. Has made more plays with his great athleticism than technique and skill-set giving him great upside when projecting for college. May get a look at receiver.
