'12 CA CB Devian Shelton

There was not a better looking cornerback physically in Dallas than Shelton. He has great length at a shade under 6-2 and he is extremely explosive and sudden as an athlete. With only one year of cornerback under his belt, we think this is a kid with phenomenal upside.

Recruiting: Shelton only holds offers from Idaho, San Diego State, New Mexico and Washington State. His dream school is Tennessee and he has also been receiving serious interest from Washington, Oregon State, Colorado and other

I suspect that he might end up on the outside looking in if Dooley's staff lands their top choices at CB

Devian Shelton is proving many people wrong with recent performances.

The best defensive back at the B2G Camp was four-star Miami (Fla.) Columbus recruit Deon Bush but not far behind him was Devian Shelton. That's saying something because Bush is ranked fourth at safety and No. 65 overall by Rivals.com.

Shelton, a 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback from Inglewood, Calif., is really physical on the line and doesn't make it easy for the wide receiver to start his route. He's super athletic and can turn his hips and run as well.

Starting to sound like this kid is flying under the radar & could start picking up some interest in bigger schools soon.

"I love Tennessee," Shelton said. "If Tennessee offered I would take it. I love Eric Berry, I wear No. 14 just for him. I really like the SEC, I grew up watching them all of the time."

Dooley needs to pick up the phone & give this kid a call & try to get him to camp later this month to evaluate him.

Shelton has picked up an offer from Arizona State.

"An offer from Tennessee would be it," he said. "I've always grown up loving them. They have started to show more interest and I'll just have to see how things go. If they don't offer by mid-season, I may just make a commitment to one of my other options."

In addition to his top three, Shelton said he is considering visits to Nebraska and SMU. The Huskers have not offered.

Shelton is now getting interest from UCLA, Tennessee, Arizona, Colorado, & Nebraska. 247 says he is a real sleeper in this class, they have him as a 3* & 88 overall rating.

Sounds like he's got a lot of love for the Vols. I want dt's though we're pretty stacked at db.

How many CB's are too many in one class? Love that this kid loves us. Has anyone compared him to Crawley? They seem close in size.

One player who has a really good shot - and after further evaluation might have to move up in a big way if he has a good senior season - is Inglewood (Calif.) cornerback Devian Shelton. He was probably a little underappreciated going into this summer but he was fantastic at the B2G Elite Camp and could be one of the top cornerbacks in Southern California. With his athleticism and ball skills, Shelton could move into the top 250 for sure.

Shelton was bumped up to a 5.7 3* & the 26th best CB in the country, 2 spots away from a 4* rating.

My guess would be we are done with DBs. Next years class as well as the following class has some stud DBs that we have a great shot at.
