Just got some bad news . I have a 14yr old 2nd cousin. He was involved in a 4 wheeler wreck( not wearing a hamlet....don't get me started). He has a cracked skull and is bleeding on the brain. Please keep them in your prayers.

Thanks everyone. Trauma team has been working on him since he arrived at Children's healthcare of Atlanta. He is alert at the moment. Still a big fight ahead.

Yep. Nuero surgeon said brain is swollen as much as it can. If it swells any more they'll have to remove part of his skull to allow it to swell. He's in ICU and will be monitored closely through the night.

Yes, no change, or reduced swelling is good. So far they haven't opened up the skull. If the swelling gets worse or the bleeding starts back, they will have to. Dr said no change through the night was as good sign.

Text I just got from my aunt.

Trauma team DR said he will need lots of cognitive rest for the brain..no video games..no texting and limited amount of TV..said he will be out of school several weeks..then going back on half days..said the brain cells need lots of rest to heal..if not they said if he had another bump on the head..the outcome might not be this lucky...he's been resting for a little while..
