112th..U.S. Open Thread Zoner Style

On this course that is what it takes..Don't get fancy or you will double bogey. Hit good shots straight and take your pars. that is why that ametuer Hossler is doing good not forcing shots just playing safe. Tiger hitting crazy shots and being overly aggressive hitting driver when he didn't have to was his downfall today..imo

I only saw him hit driver twice. On 9 I think & he birdied. On 16 where it didn't matter. He hit some terrible chips & didn't make any putts.

Maybe I was distracted from watching after my lil boy but he did attack greens on shots where it would have been beneficial to layup. Tiger doesn't hit his driver as much anymore because he can't control it with his new swing and it has helped him recover his game. He pulled it out of the bag when he shouldn't have today is all I'm saying.

I knew what you meant.

He did use it and was going after it when he didn't necessarily need to.

And the baby started crying so I forgot wtf else I was gonna say...

I was lying, bro...

I'm not I slice the fawk out of it and have tried several changes. Then I duck hook that son beech. My 3 wood I can hit straight down the middle. I need a higher loft driver can't hit a 7 degree or 9 worth a damn. But haven't been able to play as of late with a newborn in da house.

What degree driver do you have?

I got a few old sets........ old callaway big bertha 9 degree, taylormade burner 7, and a titanium king cobra at 10.5 but never play with anymore. Quit spending money on golf clubs. Got a big bertha diablo in the bag right now but never pull it out on the course as of late.

I've never been really that good. Learned on my own and never took a lesson. I shoot around 85-90. I play just good enough to keep me going back.

Ishoot high 80s to 90s also. I am 7 weeks out of acl surgery but 2 weeks ago went and played once out of immobilzer brace when we went out of town. Pretty stupid actually as you arent supposed to play sports for like 6 months. I was super concious (sp) of not twisting my right knee so swing was all arms. I shot a 112 at Cedar Crossing in Lebanon. We had went there camping pulled camper to Cedars of Lebanon state park and decided to play with the guys. The highlight of the day was my best drive but I didnt realize how good it was. I drove the ball way out in the fairway but kept my head down so long trying to remember not to mess my knee up. Well we rolled up to a ball in the fairway amd hit a ball onlt to find out I hit one of my buddys ball mine was like 80 yards in front. Man I was upset because I couls have chipped onto green instead hit that one into sandtrap shy of green.

Best I ever shot was a 74 at harvest hills(short par 4's) in Madison Al.. I generally shoot in the high 80's.

OS is catching me at a key time in my game, which has been lost and found several times in the last few months. I am close to changing every stick.
And maybe even going lefty.

I really think the warm winter hurt my game. I'm one that doesn't like to think and doesn't practice, so if I take time off, I swing free and play well. The more I have played, the more tinkering and thinking I have done, and I'm not good enough to play well. I played through winter, and have had my worst 3 months in awhile as far as ball striking.

Practice is a waste of time for me. It doesn't help and I don't want to hit those rocks they call range balls with my clubs. I don't over think anything. Or, try not to. If I hit a bad shot, I just forget about it and come up to the next shot fresh.

If it does, I'm so getting one.

I bought a Callaway Jaws 60 degree last year and never could hit it. Kept using it and it probably cost me about 5-6 strokes a game. I have a 52 degree Ping tour wedge that I hit good almost every time. My sand and PW are Pings that came with the set.
