'11 TN RB Chris Sensabaugh

Suspicious of a Bentley in the vicinity of Kingsport's public housing, the officer said she ran the tag and found the car was registered to Sensabaugh. The Bentley pulled up outside Crew Cut Barber Shop, 806 E. Center St., and Sensabaugh went inside.

I know for a fact that he was in the barber shop for over 30 mins then the officer came in to arrest him. The officer actually put Gerald in hand-cuffs.

This actually happened to me about 10 yrs ago, being pulled over for driving on a suspended license in Kingport and the officer let me call a friend to come pick me up so he would not have to arrest me. My situation was that their records showed that I did not pay a speeding ticket but I had. Long story short the officer gave me the benefit of the doubt. I just think this could have been handled a different way.
Not saying Gerald isn't guilty of driving on a suspended license b/c he is but the Kingsport News paper made it look like he had weapon charges.

yeah I can see Clemson getting in on him. Regardless, the kid is going to be a steal wherever he goes...do you know if he is going to any camps this summer?

I honestly have no idea. I just enjoy watching the HS games in the area and stumbled across his mom and dad one night.

I read the KPT Times and read it differently. It went into detail about the guns, but the officer admitted he had a permit. Ironically, they let him finish getting his haircut.

Sometimes "southern" cops are not known to be the most ethical.

Not necessarily my opinion, just some feelings that I have heard expressed by more than a few people.

No offense to anyone who may be law enforcement. Just some observations.

It's tough to say because I think if you don't bring him in and it gets discovered, they would claim he gets preferential treatment. But the question still remains on why run his plates just because a Bentley is in a housing project neighborhood. The guns play no part of the equation because they weren't discovered until after the fact AND he had a permit.

This deal about "will he want to come to TN if we don't offer his cousin", friend, neighbor, etc., has burned TN in basketball and football. Remember the national championship QB Leak? Yep. And ND qb Clauson? Yep. It happens so much. I don't think Kiffin and Co. are going to have to go that route just to get players.

it sounds like the officer was pretty straight with Gerald...hell he/she let him finish his haircut. The truth is that the bentley stuck out like a sore thumb and either she thought it was A. Stolen or B. A drug dealer and that is why they ran the plates...profiling unfortunately. I saw this bentley the other night (sunday or monday) and you can't miss it...beautiful car. As for the comment about no bad parts of kingsport, that was my way is saying the Projects...we have three areas of public housing and the one that he was arrested near is probably the nicest of the three I guess?!

Gerald was a Prop 48 and yes Tennessee gave him a serious look, Coach Clark is relentless at trying to get the attention of recruiters, Tennessee had to pass as well as several other D-1 schools because of grades, he's a smart kid but just didn't take school serious until college. When ETSU announced they were ending football while he was a sophomore he was offered by Tennessee and Michigan to transfer under the special provisions for NCAA schools dropping a sport but chose to stay for his junior year because he was dedicated to his coaches, teammates and school. After his junior season Tennessee didn't offer because he only had one season remaining and safety wasn't a big immediate need that year. Chris is a wonderful kid with great parents. He's been on the radar of at least five D-1 schools since the 8th grade including Tennessee. As far as family ties his cousin Coty does play at Clemson, cousin Boo played at West Virginia, cousin Teddy Gaines played at Tennessee as well as cousin Gerald at North Carolina. Hope he wears Orange and White one day but he'll make the best decision for him...his dad, both uncles and at least 6 cousins I'm aware of have played college football, baseball or basketball and will give him sound advice on the recruiting process. Roll Tribe and Go Vols!

I didn't get a chance to see Chris play but I played against Teddy and Gerald...I actually caused him to fumble, but it went out of bounds. The KTNews got that picture on the front page with big title letters that said "Just a whoopin' - D-B beats South" - - long story short...even though I haven't seen this particular kid play yet I want him in orange due to the fact that I'm a huge proponent to UT recruiting more northeast TN boys to come to Knoxville.....GO REBELS!!!

is it true that he was held out of the first grade?,so he would be bigger and failed a year ? i was told he is 17yr old playing against a lot of 15yr olds,i was also told by a parent of a player that holding them out for the first grade happens a lot,do these things really happen ?

I can't comment on his particular case, but yes parents hold back students for non-academic reasons all the time. It happened two decades ago and it will continue to happen.

don't know if he was held back or not, but he was playing varsity as a freshman, so even if he was 15 or 16 then, he was still going up against 17 and 18 year olds and would still be their same age last year as a sophomore.

I say that to simply say the point so far is moot. To this point regardless of it, he's beaten up on players still older than him. Had he been playing freshmen and JV games it would be a different story.

There is a certain age limit, unless the rules have changed. There was a kid on our team that couldn't play his senior year because he was over the age limit.

Simply put.... yes!

The age limit is something like 20 though.

Chris wasn't playing against freshmen. He was playing against kids age 15-18 (probably very few 15) just like normal high schoolers. And yes, he started as a freshman. Coach Clark, to my knowledge, has never let any other freshman play with the varsity team.

I think it's 19. So I would think he would have to have been held back a year and had an extremely early birthday to not play his senior year.

Plus, as crappy as the Kingsport Times is I have to believe they would have already talked about that scenario.

The Johnson City Press (next door neighbor, printed at the same location though) isn't too bad actually and they definitely would have said something about it.

per the TSSAA handbook it is 19 on or before August 1.

Section 9. No student shall be eligible to participate in any athletic contest during any school year if he/she becomes 19 years of age on or before August 1. The age rule may be waived for the Tennessee School for the Blind when this school is competing with other schools for the blind provided such schools are permitted by their state associations to waive the age rule in competing with other schools for the blind.
