'11 TN OL Mack Crowder

The ideal situation to be in is to have two OT's that can play Center, two OG's that can play Center, and a Center that can play OG or OT. It seems that our coaches know this based on recent recruiting efforts. How do you get in this position? Recruit top rated Centers. Nice job Dooley.

Well said.

Good point. Not only must the center always remember the snap count, most offensive schemes make adjustments based on how the Center calls the defensive line and linebackers and what gaps they line up in. Because the center has an ideal view of the defensive formation before the snap, he typically makes the first line call. This call is typically based on the position of the defensive linemen or linebackers in his gaps, most subsequent adjustments are dependent on this call. In some cases the center may call an adjustment for the entire offensive line. He's gotta be a Smart Dude!

JB says he hears Mack will be a Vol and might just commit within the next 2 weeks

Been hearing a lot about some recruits talking about commiting lately but haven't heard of them pulling the trigger yet. I would like to see some of these kids reppin the Orange and White already!

I just thought I would take a minute to share some info on this kid with you guys. I know often times the articles on here are about kids who have just mentioned Tennessee, and are still open to almost any school, etc. Or the aritcle doesn't give us an idea of just how good the kid is..

Let me just be the first to say this Crowder kid is the real deal, and I would love for him to come to UT, especially with our great need at lineman. I graduated high school with his oldest brother (Princeton), and the middle brother is at Cornell. Not only are these kids great athletes, but they are extremely smart and have great character. Just thought I would share some inside info.

Happy following.. :)
Holy crap.

Crowder makes a lot of sense. Not sure I buy what the TOS is saying about him committing soon. He may take a few more visits and look around some. I wouldnt blame him at all if he does that. JMO though. btw, Luatua was never ever coming to Tennessee.....

BTW, yeah there's a good chance he was.

Thank you Captain Obvious.....:hi:

There is an article regarding Crowder in today's Johnson City Press. Crowder stated that he loves the fact that he can play early at UT. He worked with Hiestand for 90 minutes during his visit and got to meet with Dooley, which is when he got his offer. He never named a favorite and said that he never had a favorite football team growing up. His teammate, a TE, is committed to Duke at the moment and they are pursing Crowder as well. He said he would like to commit before his senior season. Vols sounded to be one of his front-runners. I would love to have him.

Glad we offered him in person, that means a lot for a kid like this. He's a smart kid, I'm worried about Duke in this race since his teammate is probably on his case all the time.

Duke should worry more about us taking his teammate and him.

It is sad that a kid that grew up in EAST TN 1 1/2 Hrs from Knoxville didn't commit on the spot when he was offered!
