'11 TN OL/DL Antonio Richardson

I would say the longer this plays out the better it is for UT. Especially after summer camps and the season. If CDD has the time needed to recruit him it will be like J Stone in the end for UT I think. I do believe once he commits he will not change his mind.

The other nice thing for UT this year is alot more talent instate and some really good ones that UA has on their board. That should help CDD if he can keep these instate players.

I would tend to agree TideWarrior. Any player that is worth having is going to take a fight to get their signature on signing day.

antonio richardson emerges as national prospect

top offensive tackle antonio richardson (nashville, tenn./ensworth school) is now holding 15 scholarship offers, espn affiliate web site wearesc.com reports.

Alabama, arkansas, auburn, clemson, georgia, kentucky, lsu, ole miss, oklahoma, tennessee, ucla, usc and vanderbilt are among his long list of suitors.

At this point, richardson knows of one official visit destination, "i'm certainly going to take an official visit to usc. I want to see the tradition, the location and see how it is out there. I want to see how the school is - what they offer academically - and see if i connect with the coaches. I want to get a feel for the environment and see if it's the best fit for me."

the 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect is on the espnu 150 watch list.

There seems to be nothing to suggest any real interest in Tennessee. I wonder if we will end up losing out on anyone down the road while we show all the attention to this kid.

Richardson needs to speak with Patrick Turner and see how his adventure out West went.

Turner definitely didn't resemble the #1 WR in the country, but he was still good enough to get drafted in the 4th round. My alma mater played his HS team his last 2 years and we shut him down his senior year, and we were just a Class 1A school.

I think this will be a James Stone type situation. He will always list other schools but i see him ending up here.

i disagree. this kid is going to be getting the full court press from alot of schools. he doesnt seem to have any special fondness for UT. he is actually a Bama fan, iirc. only a suprisingly good season for the Vols give us a shot, imo.

in-state pressure, the ability to play right way at UT rather than sitting on the bench for 2-3 years at Bama before seeing the field, and being the #1 prospect on the Vols board will wear on him a year from now imo.

and it isn't like we are way behind for him or anything now.

How do you know he is #1 on the Vols board? What about a guy like Watts Dantzler, Adam Posey? Are those kids just as high on the board as Richardson...Dont get me wrong, Richardson is #1 in my view but thats b/c just like most of us, we are partial to the instate players!!! But that doesnt make him the Vols #1 target???

I think Richardson said the staff told him he was number 1.

new article on tos.... anyone know what it says?

It talks about how his father originally thought Antonio would play baseball or basketball. Then it talks about some of Antonio's goals and such. Mentions how he attended and camp (IIRC) with James Stone. It also mentions how he has come a long way and admires Michael Oher. Recruiting-wise it mentions his relationship with Coach Chaney and how Antonio would like to be coached by him. Doesn't mention favorites or decision timetable or anything, a very good read though.
