'11 TN OL/DL Antonio Richardson

I think from the looks of his recruitment this is probably going to be like an all out drag out war recruiting battle in which no team has specific advantages when recruiting this young man. He loves Tennessee, grew up an LSU fan, he loves Bama, he loves Auburn, every team would love to have this kid. So really this is one of those recruitments that you're basically going to have to hold your breath on. Hopefully Tennessee comes out on top in this recruiting battle. Sorry if you don't understand what this means but this is what I think.

That was a totally understandable post. This will turn out to be a recruiting war. May even go national if Lame Kitten throw's in his hat. Go V,B!

I have a feeling this will come down to a Bama, Tennessee battle. LSU may have a lame duck coach after the 2010 season.

True, but it is hard to fire a coach so soon after a NC. He is definitely on the hot seat this year.

Les Miles seat is so hot that he can't sit down. And you should see his record. He had better win the NC this year or else. Urbie is up next if he don't win it this year either. Wow!

Miles has won 50 games in his first 5 years which also is the best 5 year run in school history. Five years is the time it takes to implement YOUR program. So if that is how he started, how in hell is he on the hot seat? So then I joked that CUM better win this year or he's next up for hot seat honors because it would be 2 years since he won the NT, just like CLM is this year (won it all in 2008). That is what I was saying, man.

He won 50 games but should have won 60. He has had possibly the most talented roster in all of college football since hes been there and by most accounts underachieved.

Pimpvol, if you don't believe that Miles is on the hotseat, you aren't paying attention. A lot of the big donors don't like him. The perception is, he has vastly underachieved. In talking to a certain coach friend of mine, he is unorganized as well. I would be very surprised if LSU has a sub par year, if Miles is there.

I think the recruitment of Richardson will end up being between Bama and UT...Hopefully Dooley, Chaney, Heistand, or C.Smith will be able to recruit the heck out of him and he will be our big get of the 2011 class!!! Its going to take some major work though...We better be fully prepared for an "All's fair in recruiting" battle with Bama and possibly LSU!!!

All Miles did was piggyback Saban's upperclassmen to the NC. His teams have consistently been in the top quadrant of the SEC in talent, but haven't played like it the last 2 seasons.

You can skip to the last line if you want my most direct opinion of Miles without the diatribe.

Miles isn't on the hotseat because of wins and losses outright. Previous posters have mentioned the embarrassment of riches in the talent department that he has seemingly squandered, but I don't think this is the primary reason for the pressure.

Rather, Les Miles has a well documented history of beyond questionable game management. Here's a link that does a pretty good job of documenting his terrible decisions through 2007 (warning: obscene, albeit seemingly justified, language ahead):

Did they really just do this? Les Miles Syndrome. - Shakin The Southland

This list doesn't even begin two of his most egregious coaching atrocities:

1. The 2007 LSU-Auburn game where Matt Flynn fortuitously threw a 22 yard touchdown as time expired to give LSU the victory when a field-goal would have sufficed for the win

2. The spike that Les Miles called against Ole Miss, causing time to expire and costing his team a chance at winning. Afterward, he attempted to shirk responsibility, denying making the call himself and denouncing the decision as wrong. Predictably, video almost immediately surface showing Miles furiously making the spiking motion before the play. This is the worst coaching failure that I have witnessed. This call was an epic failure from a the standpoint of coaching fundamentals, intelligence, and personal integrity.

In short, Miles is a complete buffoon. The only thing keeping him employed is the dumb luck that led him to a national championship, and apologies for further sidetracking the thread. Richardson would be a huge get, but he seems bound and determined to leave the state.

Go no further than the Ole Miss-LSU game to see Miles' true football coaching ability. The guy can recruit, and he wins some games. Or I should rather say that his talent wins games. He is on the hot seat, no doubt.

He is certainly on the hot seat. That is for sure. I just felt that he is not deserving of it. Fans are really full of themselves in my opinion. No LSU coach has been better than Miles, EVER!!!! Is he on the hot seat because he has not gone undefeated all 5 years?? I think that is absurd. So all I can say is "It's hard out here for a Pimp". And Les Miles too, apparently. V,B!

He did blunder that one. No doubt. So does he need the SEC title to stay alive this year?

Too many variables to call that one. If he finishes 3rd or worse in the West, he's gonna be walking a fine, fine line. It seems like the administration doesn't wanna pay his buyout, and the fans want him gone as soon as they can. Two different angles.

Damn. They don't want to pay him 6 mil not to coach? And then pay another coach 2 more a year to come in. Are you kidding? Why wouldn't they want to do that? TIC, of course. By the way Bama man, how long does Saban have? Two years? Three tops? V,B!

I doubt he gets fired this year. With the talent in Louisiana, Miles could easily pull a top 3 class and stock the cupboard even more for the potential next coach.

Possibly the most asinine statement, EVER!!! :)

Miles does less with more than any coach in the conference.

Nick Saban????

Alright guys...I believe this Les Miles debate has gone long enough...If you want to continue it, go over to the football board and discuss and debate...This is Antonio Richardson's recruitment page, not Les Miles good coach/bad coach page!!!
