Crockett County's Taylor (6-1, 230) turned down offers from Duke and several smaller programs to walk on at UT. Last season he rushed 220 times for 1,431 yards (6.5 YPC) and 26 TDs, and on defense he finished w/ 80 solo tackles (20 TFL). He was named The Jackson Sun 2010 All-West Tennessee Defensive Player of the Year.

there probably isn't that much difference in that and the football scholarship? What would the differences be? Wish that young man all the luck. He will probably start before he leaves. They seem to always do.

This kid is a freak! He is huge and I really think he has a chance to see the field at some point before he leaves..

Worst case he helps on the scout team. One of the places a lack of depth shows up is the quality of the guys who "give the team looks".

If the scholarships in TN are that good then maybe the Vols should just recruit instate guys to walk on if they qualify?

He's walking on as an LB, I don't know if he will get a shot at FB. Didn't someone say CDD was phasing out the FB position in favor of multiple TE sets instead?

Hmm... maybe a fullback? We need one. Nonetheless, welcome, Austin, to Rocky Top. Best wishes for success here. :good!:

Small school or not, thats a completely free ride to college he passed up to come to UT. My kinda guy right there.

I doubt the hope covers 100%. He would probably have to arrange his own housing.

Probably different academic requirements to maintain a football scholarship than there are with the Hope.

I saw that but last year should have changed his mind. UT's FB position was productive.

Saw yesterday in the local paper that a safety from Clinton High School is turning down small school offers and walking on at UT too

Nice to see a kid from Tennessee sacrifice to become a Vol. Welcome and good luck.

There was a couple articles about a kicker that the coaches were trying to talk into walking on, anyone know more about him?
