I think the assumption that we'll lose all recruiting battles to Bama is premature.

I'm assuming that vader has info that the kid likes bama. Not assuming we lose, but if a kid has a favorite team, it would be nice, if we don't have to recruit against that team.

We absolutely HAVE to get this kid, Richardson and Washington. CDD better be calling them and letting them know the days of us passing on in-state talent and letting it go to bama are over.

Agreed 100%.

“Tennessee would be a great college choice for me,” Redden said. “I have a lot of interest in the Vols. My dad likes them a lot; he would love for me to go there. It’s close to home and they have a great academic reputation.”

“My top five include Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Miami and Clemson,” Redden said. “I’m hoping I will be able to get up there (Knoxville) for a spring practice and get the chance to meet the new coaching staff."

Good thing the dads a fan, as we have seen in the past the parents are major influences on where these kids end up going.

Kiffin was really good with the players. Dooley's strength seems to be the parents.

I'm not saying either was good or bad with the other... it just seems DD gets rave reviews from parents while the players say things like he's "nice". CLK seemed to get more "he's cool" type comments like he was connecting with them on a very personal level. But I'm not sure many parents had great things to say about him or O (we know at least M Brown was lost because of O).

It could be that one of them is an adult and the other... maybe not.

Hard to say which if either approach pays off better.

I just spoke to Terry Redden from Memphis who is a defensive tackle for 2011 that has alot of early offers. Redden told me his father is a big Tennessee fan and Redden has some interest in the Vols.

But he also likes Alabama. He said one of the things about Alabama is that it's closer to home which is important to his family. He's going to Alabama's junior day this Saturday and is going to Memphis the last weekend of the month.

this sounds like it will be Bama vs UT...wants to stay close to home so family can watch him play...GBO!

"I want to go down to LSU to catch a practice," he said. "I also want to visit Miami, USC, Mississippi State, and UT-Knox as well as Ole Miss," he said.

Per Rivals...

He now holds offers from Clemson and Ole Miss.

I'm a little concerned about this kid's lack of offers right now. It seems a little strange to me that someone with his prototypical size doesn't have more right now. I know it's early, but still. I guess they are wanting to see him in camp, not real sure.

Could height be an issue? Lists at 6'1" but that's not always right.

Something sure seems to be amiss.
