Nah, I'm pretty sure he committed to Kiffen on NSD.

Again...Smith would have committed to me if I were the coach of UT...he was that much of a lock...

And if we are trying to keep score he also committed to Dooley after the coaching change

My bad, I forgot about Jaquez Smith. I had it in my head that Marlon Brown was #1. I stand corrected.

No need to be corrected. In the only class that kiffin closed, he didn't get the #1 prospect in the state. Brown was numero uni in his year. Brown and smith were in different years' classes. He would have obviously gotten smith had he closed his second class.

Not terribly impressed by this kid's offer list, but I trust that Dooley and Co. have done their due diligence and offered a talented kid a spot

It's hard to trust a coaching staff that, for 3 weeks running now, can't get the correct amount of players on the field.

I gotta say, I was cool with the first few 3 star guys we have signed because they did have upside and decent offer lists, but it seems the majority of this year's class is 3 star kids with pretty pedestrian offer sheets. It's hard to think the coaching staff knows something others don't on every one of these kids. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd be lying if I didn't start to question it.

summary for people who don't know alot about him.

6-1 194lb CB

has been clocked at a sub 4.4 forty and a 10.68 100m

brother of Miami RB Craig Cooper.

we really did pass over a couple of 4stars (Walls, Countess) to take him.

LV...

I have to admit that I am underwhelmed with Tino also -- always have been. He has speed, but what else does he bring to the table?? He is not all that impressive to me, but obviously the coaches know better than I do.

With a year to work with Wylie, do you see him gaining enough muscle to play OLB?? A good, fast LB would be a great plus for us on defense -- but the questions are 1) can he gain the muscle and bulk to make a good LB without losing his speed, and 2) can he be coached up to be a really good LB?

I and others saw this coming. We were slammed hard by the Dool-ade drinkers for voicing concerns 5 months ago.

I know we need numbers, and I hope this staff proves to be legit. However this recruitiing class must get alot better with the last 8-10 committs for our Vols to improve at the pace we all hope for. JMO... GBO

Bo...I know you folllow recruiting closely so how can you so blatantly ignore the fact that about 90% of these dreaded 3*'s we have commited are having monster senior seasons right now?

9 of our current commits are either currently 4*'s (Johnson, Martin, Loften) or have legit 4* talent (Kerbyson, Posey, Worley, Smith, Randolph, Coleman)...and we lead or are in the top 2-3 for at least 6 guys that are 4*'s (Clear, Richardson, Arnett, Rome, Wright, Johnson) and we lead or are in the top 2-3 for at least 3 others (Dallas, Marcus, Paul) that have legit 4* talent....

And those are only the ones that we have a great shot at landing...there are several others that we are still in it for with the same level of talent...

You and the person you quoted need to exercise some forsight about our current recruits...and you both need to start looking at more than the basically meaningless number of stars a player has next to his name when you're judging his worth

What is not that impressive about him to you? Just wondering.

There is a 0% chance he plays LB. He is a CB. He brings very good size and speed and a very high ceiling. They saw him in camp against CBs such as Blake Countess and decided to take Tino and pass on Countess. I am a fan of camp offers jmo.

Major boost to the recruiting class. I've seen this kid play, he's the real deal. Great speed combined with solid athleticism and pretty decent technique.

the decision for thomas to make his college destination orange clad was simple.

"i'm from tennessee," thomas said. "that's a big part because it's a pride thing. We have a good program and a very tradition rich program. It was the right choice for many reasons. My position in the secondary was also a big part. I just can see myself there for the next four years."
