Nice article, thanks for the link.

The author hasn't been paying attention to UT this season:

"The Volunteers struggled at quarterback this season with Matt Simms and Tyler Bray, neither picking up the offense nor striking fear in many SEC opponents."[/B]

.........wow

I saw that too.. Dude is an idiot. Granted he didn't strike a lot of fear in their eyes this season (didn't really get the opportunity) he did for the future.

it is shocking that he won nationa; player of the year honours yet a3star ,i see him redshirting as freshmen and being s very good bsck up as a sophmore and having two very solid years after brey gets through a fine carrer

I think Worley will end up a good QB...but he has a lot of development ahead.

Also, I haven't stated this before, but after watching some more film of Worley, I'm surprised we wanted him so bad. Now, don't take this as a bash Worley post. It's not. I think the kid can be successful here. But he isn't a Chaney QB. Chaney loves to throw down the field. We saw this when Bray became the starter. Worley is a dink-n-dunk QB with average arm strength. Maybe Chaney believes that he can turn Worley into a down the field thrower or he can adjust his offense accordingly to Worley's strength. Just a thought.

Agree on him redshirting as a freshmen. However, I don't see him starting 2 years after Bray leaves. I'm glad he is a Vol and I wish him the best, but I have a feeling he might be recruited over. We are in on 4 or 5 big name QB recruits next year and I feel pretty confident we will land at least one. Kiel, Pike, etc. If he doesn't fix some of his throwing mechanics during his redshirt year then I'm afraid he could get left behind.

What comes with winning the, "Gatorade National Player of the Year?" Do you get a scholarship for winning or other scholasitic benefits?

Impressed me yesterday, he came in & was real confident. He stepped up in the pocket multiple times & kept his eyes down field. & arm strength isnt a question here, there were atleast 2 passes where I saw him zip the ball down the field atleast 50 yards & gave the WR a chance to make a play. After redshirting this season & learning more of the playbook I have confidence he can come in & be a good QB for us.

matt simms can also throw the ball 50 yards. but when matt simms tries to hit a receiver on a 10 yard comeback across the field, oregon gets a pick 6.

that's where arm strength matters.

nobody's questioning whether worley can throw it 50 yards. people are questioning whether he can get the ball where it needs to be on a line and by yesterday.

A reporter asked CSS yesterday why they didnt offer Justin Worley, he said that he went to watch one of the Dixon kids last year & he played on Worleys team & said that during the game he turned to Coach Johnson & said "Why arent we going after this guy?".
