'11 SC QB Justin Worley

I'd take Bray over all 3 of ND's FR QB's, easily. Bray has the skill set and the mental makeup to be special in the right offensive. IMO, Bray is your classic USC QB. He can manage an offense and flat out sling the ball when its his time...though not the most mobile of QBs. I can't wait to see DD's offense. Bray was THE perfect fit for the PS offense that we would've ran. I don't expect it to change much. Worley just seems like the kind of kid that plays at Mizzu, Houston or TxTech...system QB, I guess.

Anyone else feel like Worley is a system QB?

I'm just not feeling it with Worley anymore period. I was all aboard the Worley train too. I don't mind him taking his time b/c I understand that it's a huge decision on these kids but he's visited 4 times for sure but yet doesn't know who his leader is etc. Also when I watch his film he just doesn't impress me near as much as Bray did when I watched his and Brissett. I hate his dropback. I cant stand it. Brissett looks the complete package on film. He's got great size already, his arm strength is unreal, he's got a swagger under center and can also tuck it and run if the pocket collapses. I really think Brissett is going to be an impact QB in college. He's a tad raw right now but if he came here and worked with Chaney he would be unbelievable. I don't see that with Worley.

I actually agree.

If it's true that we only take 1 QB in this class, I'd much rather take Brissett ATM.

By October we should have a QB committ... JMO.

I know exactly what you mean. The film that I saw seemed like he plays primarily out of a spread offense. Although I do think we will see more Shotgun looks with Chaney at the helm, it would be quite an adjustment for Worley to go from Shotgun every play to primarily playing under center. It is amazing to me how this kid has gone from being a primary QB target to being an "okay" type of recruit. I guess that is what happens when you have a couple of mediocre camps in a row.

Rumor is that Worley's current leader is Notre Dame with LSU 2nd. Top 4 ND, LSU, UT, FSU....

Last year ND picked up 3 QBs, UT picked up 2, LSU and FSU both got 1. That may eventually play a factor.

per ESPN

Also, ND Rivals article from 6/24 says he's up to 6'5 and around 205. His coach says he may end up 6'6 230 by the time he lands on campus somewhere.

Its ESPN though..........

I haven't spoken to the coach in about 2 weeks, but the last time I spoke with him he was telling me that Justin was all vol. If I had to guess if that were still the case, I would say yes, but with a 4 day trip to ND on the horizon, you never know. I really want Worley to be a Vol because I believe he hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential yet. I don't buy the whole "System QB" BS. If we are fortunate enough to get him, I think he will be a very good signal caller in his 3-4 year here. I am trying to get in touch with my buddy and hopefully can get an update on Justin. Go Vols!

There is an article up on scout right now that has the top 4 QBs on our Radar. Justin Worley, Ely, Brissett, and Rivers. It goes on to say that Worley is our best shot at landing an elite QB, but they only give us a 60% chance of landing him. If we do not land Justin Worley who is our next realistic option?

That QB breakdown on Scout says that Brissett is in no hurry to commit.

I guess I'm pretty risk-averse, but I still say we go hard after Worley and take him now if he wants to commit. I'd rather lock down a pretty good prospect now. We can keep recruiting Brissett and if he wants to commit to us later in the fall, we can decide whether we want to have another very good option at QB or whether we're happy with Worley and would like to use the scholarship on another position.

Brissett.

He seems to be a great prospect. I hope, realistically, we have a better chance of landing him than what the article predicts. That article left much to be desired as far as our chances go with landing an elite QB.

its looking like worley is becoming less and less of an option. is that because of a growing disinterest in us, or does it come as an effect of our growing interest in Brissett? or both?

to be fair, a lot of the "growing disinterest" is just internet speculation.

in fact, both sides are doing exactly what they said they would do: worley said he loved ut but would take several visits before making any decisions. dooley has always said he won't force a kid to commit but would rather the kid make the decision on his own timetable so that he is happy with his decision once he commits.

i think its very possible that both sides are still very interested - they're just letting the process play out.

ND brought in 3 QBs last year. We only have 3 total QBs on roster and 1 would be a Senior in 2011. I think if Worley is Dooley's guy, we will get him.

I prefer Brissett, but I think they both have potential.

Apparently another thing helping ND is that Worley's HS coach has a connection or two to the school. He coached former ND All-American Jeff Burris.

Here's a quote from Worley's dad:

"Obviously, Notre Dame would be number one on that list from an academic side," Worley's father said. "Also relationship with the coaches, and the type of offense they run, and the number of quarterbacks they already have in the pipeline, which Notre Dame has a lot."

- NBC Sports

If Notre Dame is taking a QB this year, which some say they won't, but if they do it will be Worley. He's #1 on their board. He basically plays the exact same system in HS that Brian Kelly runs.

edit: he's #1 on their QB board, not overall
