I think Chaney really likes Nance. He physically looks alot more college ready than Simms or Bray.

I've heard that too about Chaney liking him, and I agree he's there physically. But if all 3 of our QBs bomb, I wouldn't completely rule out adding a 2nd QB in this class. As of right now, 1 is what I expect too.

You have to take a 2nd guy this class, IMO. You need to have 2 guys competing with Bray that have been in the system at least 1 year, after Simms leaves.

Exactly. I agree.

LV had said Dooley is telling recruits that. I just wouldn't agree with that. He's supposed to be one of those "no promises, come in and work" type of guys.

he told Ely (i think) that he is only looking to take 1 QB in this class.

i don't know how that's really a promise. just being honest, which is what Dooley is.

No digging. You've argued for weeks now that nobody knows or should even venture a guess as to how our new coach will fare at the helm.

I said he would be over recruited, I didn't say anything about W's or L's. Has more to do with the Nash/Da'Rick package deal than anything else.

I would take 2 as well - I just don't know about Nance - whether or not he'll seriously challenge - and if Bray takes over the starting position - Simms could bolt for a crappy school where he wouldn't have to sit out his last year and start.. but I don't know if he would do that or not obviously - just a scenario.

I understand, but you said you don't see him competing without ever having seen the kid in a Vol uniform.

Why? I have more to go on regarding our new coach. You have nothing on Nance.

Trying to compare a QB who just came out of HS and the HC at UT is not even comparable, IMO. Nash wasn't recruited highly, and he would have been going to Vandy if we didn't hire Dooley. Kiffin wouldn't have taken him to get Rogers.

Conjecture based upon little relevant info is comparable. Dooley wasn't highly sought after and was going to be at La Tech if we didn't hire him. We wouldn't have him if Kiffin didnt bail on us.

You can't compare the two. Your comparing the HC of UT to a HS QB and your trying to use the same principles to do it. I know your playing devil's advocate, but it's a stretch at best. Dooley has plenty of co-workers and former employers vouching for him. Nash has his HS coach and possibly Da'Rick vouching for him.

Which offer list looks better iyo?

QB 1- Tennessee, Arkansas, WVU, Miss St, Vandy, Louisville, Harvard, ECU, UCF, UT-C.

QB 2- Tennessee, San Diego St, and Fresno St.

You left out Jim Chaney vouching for him.

I don't know how to make this more plain. I am not comparing the two. I am talking about your willingness to opine in the blind on one while repeatedly (ad nauseum, over and over and over, ad infinitum, etc etc etc) exhorting everyone here to withhold judgment on our new coach until we have seen more proof of his aptitude.

If that's tough for you to see, nevermind.

Didn't he say that he reminds him of Drew Brees? If so, that speaks volumes.

I'm just hoping one of Simms/Bray/Nance is able to come in and earn the starting job early and keep it. Our team will NEED some continuity to build chemistry for this season and beyond, especially with our totally green O-Line.

I think there is a reason that Bray ended up the #131 rated prospect according to Rivals. Offer lists are sometimes misleading, IMO. Some of the offers are committable immediately, and some aren't.

Again, I can reason that Dooley can be a good coach by who his former employers were. I'm sure that even you had a questionable job in your day, yet I'm sure it hasn't effected you to the point that it was held against you by another employer. Hell, I hope Nash ends up like Drew Brees, but I'm not comparing Dooley to Neyland either. I find it more amazing that you keep tabs on what I say in all this.

I went over to the camp last Tuesday and heard Coach Hinshaw (the QB Coach) tell the Qb group that UT could only afford to take one QB in the 2011 class because the team has too many needs at other positions. So, if both Dooley and Hinshaw are saying only one QB, I believe UT will only take one QB. Also, since I was able to watch the team practice after camp last week, I decided to go over there again today. On both visits Simms was working with the 1's and Bray worked with the 2's. Nance worked a couple of plays but was really not up to speed -- throwing way behind the receivers. Of course, no one can expect a high school kid to be up to SEC speed at this time -- but he was way behind. Today the best QB on the field was Peyton Manning who actually worked out with the team and threw with both groups. Wow! I love hanging out at the complex and wonder how many more times I will be able to sneak in without being asked to leave. I will keep trying to get over there once a week until I am told not to.
