isn't brissett a high rated baseball player to or did i mistake him with someone else. cause if he is then we could have another casey kelly situation.

If we don't want (or get) Worley, we should go after that kid from Ohio we offered last week. The guy would flourish in an offense like what we would run.

Wasn't Worley supposed to commit in June???

Need a top flight QB where they can start calling others and recruit, recruit, recruit.

I am getting tired of the Worley saga tbh. He isn't sold on us or we aren't sold on him. No other options. It's about time to shat or get off the pot.

Give me Brissett and his 6-6 dual-threat frame and his laser rocket arm. he looks big time on film imo.

+ 1

Sadly, with Patrick Coyne I doubt our ability to recruit against the hometown Bearcats. I would like to see Worley pull the trigger as well, but I am not going to pull the plug on him yet. I think he may well be a project, but the upside is there IMO.

Just like MVP winning NFL QB's have bad games still, a 17-18 year old kid can have a rough (or at least lackluster) camp and still end up being a tremendous player at the college level. I'm certainly not saying he's the best out there, but if we *do* accept a commitment from him I will feel pretty decent about our QB recruiting.

This is exactly why I think Brissett should be our man. I would wager he's more "well-known" by other recruits and he obviously is in Florida, where we have the most offers floating around. Even though he was already a Miami lean, Phillip Dorsett mentioned Bridgewater as a reason for committing. Proving that guys take notice of who's on board and will be leading the team in the future.

thats very true...dorsett committed yesterday and teddy was a big reason why..a big time qb really helps

If we can't out recruit a middle of the road Big East school with a new coach, then this staff should hand over their money and go find new jobs.

Your point of view is totally skewed.

If anyone is viewed as Middle of the Road by Cincinnati area recruits right now it would be Tennessee. A middle of the road SEC school.

Cincinnati has won the Big East championship two years in a row and been to the Orange and Sugar Bowls in back-to-back years.

The Big East is nothing special but prospects, especially outside the immediate area dont view Tennessee as anything more than middle of the road anymore. These kids were 4 and 5 years old the last time Tennessee won any kind of championship.

Also there is no comparison between Brissett and Worley. Brissett already has an NFL frame from both a height and weight standpoint, he's eon's more athletic and IMO has a much stronger arm. From a long-term potential standpoint he's one of the better prospects in this class. Both are raw at this point so I definitely want the guy with the more athleticism and higher ceiling. His offer list is through the roof as well.

I said from the start that Worley didn't look to have a very good arm.

If he isn't very careful, he's going to end up on the outside looking in.

I agree. He is trying to play the game and get more offers. Eventually we will move on and he may end up out in the cold.

I think this is already happening. With the double offer for BB and FB UT looks to have a real shot here with Brissett.

Yeah, but the head coach that was the catalyst of all of that is now gone. Their facilities are crap, their stadium is crap. They waltzed through the Big East, and were made to look like a FCS school against UF. If we are going to get anywhere above mediocre, we shouldn't be having any struggle with Cincinnati for a recruit.

That same team that's gone 24 -4 over the last 2 years and played in two BCS bowls? Compared to 12-13 and a Peach Bowl blowout?

Definitely middle of the road.

Our Peach Bowl blowout was an exciting game compared to their Sugar Bowl blowout. Besides, Kelly is gone, plus all the things I said in the above post.

That is just idiotic. Take off the orange-shaded glasses and see it for what it is. If a kid didn't grow up watching Tennessee or is not a big SEC guy then we are nothing more than them to an average SEC program with nice facilities, a giant stadium, and an unproven staff.

I love UT Football as much as the next guy, but if you take a realistic look from an outsiders perspective, there is no denying that the appeal of Tennessee has definitely declined to outsiders over the last 5-7 years.

The new head coach had a pretty damn good record too at Central Michigan (Where Kelly came from). I think he was something like 28-11. Far better than anyone in Knoxville accomplished over the last 5 seasons. Hell their new coach is coming off an 11 win season.

Whether or not they got beat in the BCS game is irrelevant. Hell Tennessee got beat just as bad in their bowl game to a team not nearly as good as Florida.

My point really was that kids out of the Tennessee region just dont view Tennessee as more than a middle of the road program right now.

The UT "brand" is still pretty strong but most players know that the program is down. UT has a better foundation for rebuilding than Cincy did when they started the climb.

This. The Big East is no SEC, but they have an impressive record over the past two years. We don't. The only argument I can agree with is that Kelly is gone.

At any rate, imo, Worley has either lost interest in UT, or we have lost interest in Worley. Perhaps the mutual interest from Brissett in UT and UT in Brisset is the reason for Worley's relative disappearance.

So I repeat the question I asked 4 pages back, before the Bearcats vs UT debate.......

Meaning we make take another commit before him and therefore there would be no room? Or are you saying we slow played him and now we're loosing ground on him to other programs?

We agreed twice in the same day on two different threads. This appears to be a monumental day in the world of VN threads.

Well, since none of us are working in the recruiting office, are on staff, nor are we actually Justin Worley it's a little hard to know that now isn't it. It looks like we waited for him and now he is looking at other school so we are looking at other QBs. Never hurts to hedge your bets friend. If we put all of our eggs in one basket we'll probably get bit in the end. Worley's problem is he has waited to the point that other QBs who are equally good or better have started looking at the same schools that he is and so as stated numerous times he should proceed with caution or risk being odd man out at FSU, LSU, and UT.
