'11 SC LB Lateek Townsend

JC Shurburtt - Shrine Bowl top 15

13. Townsend finished with 71 rushing yards on eight carries out of the “Gator” package, but he’s going to play linebacker in college and was disruptive at that position all week. Townsend accelerates well and closes well. He does have a tendency to overpursue, but appeared to be a little better in that regard this week. Townsend is expected to stay in-state and play for Clemson or South Carolina.

Long shot right now, IMO it's a Clemson/USCe battle. If Martin can talk him into coming for a visit on Jan 14th I think our chances could improve.

Rivals

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Lateek Townsend has said before that South Carolina is his favorite school and spending a week in Spartanburg for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas further solidified that statement.

According to awards given by Rivals from the Shrine Bowl, Townsend received honorable mention for "Best Closing Speed".

Kevin Steele is his main recruiter. If Steele does come as DC our chances in landing him goes from not likely to very possible!!

Just like when everyone else said Da'rick was going to UGA, but we all know how that turned out:loco:. If anyone can steal him its Dooley!

Can't believe you aren't still licking your wounds from the
SECCG. You guys sure did embarass the East, just so you know.

Really? Post like this embarrasses me as a Vol fan.

What people should be really embarrassed about is how bad Tennessee has played against PAC-10 teams. I am still ashamed about losing to UCLA back to back. I love my Vols but I don't let it blind me to the truth.

The east had embarrassing covered before the SEC title game. Still wondering when Spurrier gives up and retires though; this was probably his best shot at the SEC title.
