Good point -- except your numbers are skewed. USC beating up on a 3-9 Arkansas team and an Oregon team beating up on a 2-10 Mississippi St. team don't exactly add up to quality wins. In addition, USC was your only team to play in a bowl on new years day or after. Not exactly the toughest competition.

The SEC is 5-0 in BCS nat'l title games. The Pac-10, taken as a whole, is not as good as the SEC and you guys know it. I realize it's frustrating for ESPN to toot the conferences horn every chance they get, but that's reality. Sorry little guy... time for bed.

Come on now...USC also beat the SEC West Champion Arkansas who had 10 wins in the SEC...they lost by 40 at home and came real close to beating Florida in the SECCG.

I love the SEC but living out west I have come to realize that the PAC-10 is right there with the SEC top to bottom.

The PAC-10 is 11-7 vs the SEC this decade with wins by USC(4-0), Oregon(2-0), UCLA(4-0), Cal(1-1)

LSU at the height of their program beat Arizona home and home at the lowest point in Arizona's program. Other than that, LSU, who is arguably the team of the decade in the SEC, (probably 2nd)

-They beat a 7 win ASU team on a questionable last second TD catch
-They beat a 6 win Oregon St team by one point at home in OT, when Oregon State's All American, true freshman kicker missed a FG and 3, count em 3 PAT's.
-LSU beat Washington by 8 on the road this year despite getting out-gained and outplayed.
-Georgia beat the 9th place PAC-10 team at home this year by 3 with ASU missing two FG's in the 4th quarter with their 3rd string kicker.

5 of the SEC's 7 wins this decade were by LSU at the height of their program and only one of those wins was against a upper echelon PAC-10 team and that was Oregon St's 2nd worst season this decade and everyone knows they should have lost at home.

UCLA swept UT and Bama this decade.

It really is a lot more even then SEC fans admit. I like to think of myself as honest and open minded so I have seen how good they can be and I am not ashamed to admit it. The SEC gets the edge in the polls and the BCS and because of that, USC got left out of the MNC game 3 separate times with the same record as the SEC Champ.

It is about time for SEC fans to open their minds. We have a losing record to the BIG EAST this decade if I remember correctly...and the PAC-10. We have beaten the Big-10 in the BCS but that too is pretty even overall.

I get embarrassed when SEC fans act so ignorant. Games are decided on the field not in the polls and head to head, we have lost more than we have won.

You talk about who the PAC-10 has beaten, like the mountain west, etc...yet the BIG-10, which also gets hammered by SEC fans for beating the worst conference ever, plays 3 or 4 bowl games vs the SEC every year and so when the SEC wins those games its all "Hey look we just beat mighty Michigan or mighty Tosu" yet when the P-10 or someone else beats the Big-10, they beat a weak opponent. It cant be both ways and that is why I get so annoyed by SEC fans sometimes.

it isn't the P-10 teams fault that they don't play on or after new years day. Next year they get the Alamo bowl...while not a NYD bowl, it is another big bowl game. The Holiday and Alamo Bowls are just as good as the Cap1, Outback and many other January games, but the date is different.

The P-10 is something like 9-3 in the BCS and if you truly believe that USC wouldn't have won the same games the SEC won in the MNC games, you are mistaken.

What I hate the most is when fans of teams like ARKY, uscE, Ole Miss and lately, even UT fans continue to be SEC honks and ride the tails of UF and LSU
We are at an all time high but it is cyclical so don't get it twisted

Well maybe you shouldn't join our boards and waste mine and your time. Go away troll. Pac-10 is garbage.

SEC is the strongest, Pac-10/Big 12 depending on the year... is 2nd.

The Pac-10 is really becoming stronger and should be #2 from now on..

I love know it all LIBS from Oregon. The pac 10 has 3 teams ranked year in and out in usc, cal, and oregon. The rest of the conference is doormat competition. Granted we have not faired well, but we also had Captain Krispy Kreme for a head coach 5 years too long. Sec east has UF, USCe, UGa, UT, and UK starting to make noise. The West has LSU, UAl, Aub, and Ark, Ole Miss every other year. And yes I do consider UT a mid level SEC team for the past 7-8 years. Oregon should come in here and beat us next year given the lack of depth on our O and D-line. What will be your excuse when that does not happen?

Why does everybody think the SEC is best? all you gotta do is look at the past few champions and since 98 with the bcs see how many are SEC schools have won it.

Why does this guy get on, dig up a thread no one has seen in a month, and post a rediculously long post defending the Pac 10.... seems like someone doesn't have a life.

According to VQ, Peter Sirmon and Wilcox are heavily recruiting this guy. Sirmon is from his hometown.

Long shot, but a freak athlete like Lyerla is certainly worth the time to recruit.

Considering it's Wilcox and Sirmon they're probably telling him how bad they want him for LB and how much success who could have there, but saying if that doesn't work out how Dooley is a TE guy and he could play TE if LB doesn't work out. I know I would. In other words, "we will find a spot for you son, you will play." This kid looks like a monster in his pics.

thank you... like i have been saying the whole time.. sec is better than the pac ten but not by much

Not by much eh? I'm pretty sure that last year the SEC put as many teams in bowl games as you have total teams in your conference.

“I have been talking to Coach Wilcox a lot,” Lyerla said. “They are telling me that they like me a lot and love how I play defensively. Tennessee is recruiting me as a linebacker.”

“I’m wide open right now,” Lyerla said. “I will go anywhere; distance won’t be a factor at all. I have narrowed my list down yet, I may do that in the next couple of months.”

Thought this kid was the lock of all locks for the Ducks? Thought he was already recruiting for them and went to all home games last year?

Dude I'm hoping Wilcox and Sirmon are all over this kid. He probably already realizes how good Wilcox's D are but if he only knew what he could bring to the table here with the talent we have on D already. He would be a defining piece to our defense's puzzle. He would fit right in in the SEC and make his way to the NFL no problem. This kid is definitely in my Top 3.
