FYI - Just got verification that Coach Chuck Smith is set to offer Pagan tomorrow when he visits UT for Jr Day. If the Vols play their cards right they might be able to make it really interesting for him. Top schools as of now are as follows:
Florida
Alabama
LSU
Georgia
Notre Dame
North Carolina
Tennessee

This is one of my favorite '11 recruits. I think UT has real good chance with him. UT has always done well in WNC.

After a fun filled day on Rocky Top the question is obvious. Where do the Vols stand?

"They stand high," Pagan said. "I like the school. They stand pretty high. I don't have a top five, but when I do evaluate everyone then I'd say they will be they will be."

"I like everything," Pagan said. "Their defensive scheme, the facilities and the coaching staff. Coach (Derek) Dooley is a cool guy. I got to spend time talking to coach (Justin) Wilcox and he seems like he knows what he is doing."

Pagan also spent a great deal of time with Vol defensive line coach Chuck Smith. He was quite impressed by the former Atlanta Falcon great.

"He knows football," Pagan said of Smith. "He has a lot of experience. He's also very smart. He knows how to relate to players. I think he knows how to make me a successful defensive end and prepare me for the next level."

I really want to start seeing a lot more comments like this from recruits. I want to get those nasty Defensive lines back to UT.

I agree Sir...just give this staff a little time and they will start pulling the recruits in...can you imagine sitting talking to Chuck Smith...Chuck has been there and done that...he will pull some bad azz defensive linemen...GBO!

I believe Chuck with do well in recruiting once he gets his feet wet and his name gets out there.

While I think Smith will turn out to be a very good coach, this is just not true. Orgeron, the a-hole that he is, is about as good as it gets in recruiting and DL coaching.

The article says he is also trying to improve on his 1410 SAT score. At least the kid recognizes he has work to do in the classroom as well, that's a nice change.

I would agree that O has proven much more in recruiting. I would not agree that he's proven more from a pure coaching standpoint. In fact, I would give that edge to Smith.

That's the reason why I said Chuck will turn into a stud coach and recruiter since he just got his feet wet in the recruiting game. He just needs some time.
