"I am going to LSU on February 20th and Tennessee on February 27th."

Which schools have now offered?

"Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, Tennessee, and Alabama."

How about Tennessee?

"I just want to see what it is like. They are in my Top 5 but probably after MSU, LSU, and Ole Miss. I like Alabama too. I just sent out some film to a lot of schools. A lot of people want to hear back from me. A lot of people are requesting film. I just want to see what everybody has to offer. That is all.

C.J. Johnson, a 6'2", 225 pound middle linebacker from Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Johnson committed early to Miss State but we’ll see. One of best in the state of Mississippi for 2011 and a Rivals 250 type prospect. Johnson is planning to attend UT's Junior Day. Though early, that would be a big statement if Johnson makes it in

"This is a once in a lifetime chance that most people never get," Johnson said of the visits and recruiting process. "I'm very strongly committed to Mississippi State, but I'm going to take all my visits. I've never really left the state. I'm going to see what's out there before I come home."

"Depth charts at all these places are very important. That's the main thing I'm really trying to focus on."

"Compared to places I've been, I think Mississippi State has some of the worst facilities in the SEC. No reason to be vague, I'm just putting it out there," Johnson said. "And they talk about how ugly of a color maroon is, but I'm not worried about any color. That's not what's important.

"I've got some unofficial visits and five official visits to take. Those are what's important. I want to be somewhere that I feel at home."

That's the weakest "I'm strongly committed" I have ever heard. This guy it seems can be swayed by the right program. And if nice facilities is what he wants TN sure has that.

we could definitely use this guy.

Facilities we have Miss State hands down. Also have a favorable depth chart I would think for most wanting to contribute immediately. Anyone know what Miss State's LB depth looks like?

I always pictured Mississippi State being an ugly school, guess I was right.

It's really not that bad of a campus. Most of the buildings are new on a big, open campus. It's just Starkville is nothing but a glorified cow barn. The campus by itself is actually pretty nice.

"I'm about 65-percent (solid) with Mississippi State. I'm still committed," he said. "It's between them, LSU, Tennessee, Alabama and Ole Miss. That's the only (schools) that (have) got a chance."

0% chance he signs with MSU imo. He's already planning announcing his decision at the Army game.

I think he's waiting to see which school he is impressed by. The talk about ugly colors and bad facilities doesn't sound to reassuring that he will keep his commitment. If the staff turns up the heat, he could be ours.

C.J. and A.J. Johnson...

I would love to have to get them confused on a Saturday basis.

“I feel like LSU is really the only team that has a chance of making me change my mind from Mississippi State,” Johnson said. “Alabama has started to back off because they got the feeling that I wasn’t going to switch, and I’m not certain on Tennessee and Ole Miss. If I did make a switch, I feel like it would be to LSU.”

I've never gotten the impression he's interested in going anywhere but MSU.

I feel like his interest in MSU can be swayed, honestly. I still think we and LSU can sneak in here.

This kid seems like too good a football player to be committing to Miss State. Of course we are not where we used to be, but at least we have a good history.

I hope we can turn him -- we sure could use him in our LB corps. He and AJ would make a great nucleus, and Probst and Crump will be good also, but probably not quite as good as AJ and CJ. We could do all kinds of word play things just off their names.
