'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

2 weeks ago Hubbs said he had no grade concerns & thats why all those schools came in late, now all of a sudden he has grade concerns? Makes no sense.

Kids tell people (coaches, recruit services, etc) all the time they have no "grade concerns". But until it is time to enroll and submit paper work to the next school, no one knows for certain except maybe the kid. The lie a lot. :)

You follow recruiting long enough and you end up seeing all types of things happen.

Very possible. But I would guess that if we don't get him, it is because he soured on us, not the other way around.

Seriously though, why would anyone choose to play football at Ole Miss over Tennessee? It's not like the football players get to tailgate in the Grove.

I agree -- a rather quick turnaround on Lanier. I don't recall Hubbs specifically saying "grades", but he did imply that it was a matter of eligibility, not a voluntary decision.

Math class??

recruits choose schools for many different reasons. some would totally shock fans. mostly, has little to do with the football program.

Ole Miss gets a lot of kids just because of their girls down there. :)

hubbs, and many others, just report what they are told. If a kid tells them he is on track to get out and be here, there is no way for them to prove it one way or the other. Just reporting what the kid told them. Can't know for sure until it comes time for kid to enroll here.

Same deal on Dallas. He told everyone last week he would be here this week practicing. Now practice is here but Dallas is not.

Fans need to learn to only trust about 50% of what recruits tell reporters.. or put on facebook....hard to know which 50% might be accurate..

I don't believe anything until LOI's are signed..but I've been following since late 60s

rumored that Bama has jumped on board and they are looking at his film before extending an offer.....home state appeal maybe.

With the grayshirts Bama took last year, how many more players can they take considering they are at 20 and still need a running back. Also only have 3 OL commits!

'Bama now has 4 recruits on the OL -- Aaron Douglas just signed his LOI today.

this is bama...they take players from other schools who they really don't need....took an OL and LB last year from Auburn and looking to do the same with UF and UT this season. If the players don't work out Saban won't reup the scholly the next year or send them packing like BJ Scott.

JB said yesterday afternoon he's heard the rumors out of Ole Miss that they may not have room for him.

The only LB Alabama signed last year was CJ Mosely. You think they took him just to be petty?

Rivals doesn't even show Auburn offering, so why would they need to steal him away?

lol...Rivals doesn't update unless the info comes from the kids. He took an OV to the Plains. Bama is loaded at DB(plus the HS offers) but they offer Lanier...why? because LSU, UT and UF are high on the kid. Same thing with Zach Mettenberger.
