'11 MS JUCO DB Izauea Lanier (Tennessee Commit)

allow me to provide a possible scenario: Dooley and staff would NOT accept his commitment until he takes his visit to Ole Miss. This allows more time for someone higher on the board (such as Moore) to commit, and if that happens then I don't see Lanier being a Vol....

First of all, Moore isn't committing any time soon. Secondly, you are wrong.

at this juncture, he is planning an Ole Miss visit. might still be a silent, but we would just as soon he not go to Oxford

I have a hard time understanding what the rebels, er ah, cubbies (??), have to offer a recruit that would not be far exceeded by what a resurgent Tennessee offers. By all accounts he is a very good player at a position of need for us. We can give him plenty of playing time on a team that has turned the corner, so to speak, and is on its way back up.

Ole Miss (da cubbies) are perennial underachievers stuck in the bottom half of the SEC west. We could challenge for the SEC east crown within the next two years, while realistically I do not see Ole Miss challenging for anything higher than the egg bowl.

I think he is all Vol.

Lanier is a Vol guys. I have heard that he just wants to visit Ole Miss out of respect and will commit/sign to TN after the completion of that visit.

I think a newcomer can start at DT or TE. I doubt a newcomer starts in the secondary, LB, or any other O position. Opportunities in the two deep are plentiful but not so much as first game starters.

Not so sure about LB. Secondary will depend on what they do with Teague.

Teague is CB. If anybody moves it will be Meline who I think needs to be playing WR. Also Vincent Dallas could make an impact at CB if he plays on defense.

I don't know if he will. In an interview I read yesterday he said he was being recruited as a WR but I could see him also playing CB as well.

Pretty sure Dallas is all offense. This idea of him being on defense has been shot down multiple times.

However, what I can see, as others are talking about in other threads, is Pat Martin moving to LB (They're saying he's a beast there), and then getting Moore and Lanier both.

I was just about to post this.

I'm crossing my fingers for it. I'll love pat martin wherever he goes, but I love a speedy linebacker with good coverage skills and a knack for finding the ball.

I hope you're right man...I'm itching for a commitment

From what I am hearing it should be a done deal. Coaches are expecting it...If this secret FL visit is true it could mess with what I heard, but I am very confident if he doesn't head to FL and just visits Ole Miss this weekend you will hear about him signing around Monday of next week.:good!:

I'm pretty certain the secret FL visit was a joke by Hileah that people took seriously...I'm almost positive that it's been confirmed that it didn't happen

Not true. They will take Lanier's commitment at any time.
They are definitely not putting Lanier on hold for Moore, since Moore is going to hold out on a decision as late as possible.

maybe the reason from not hearing anything from Lanier has to do with the Juco dead period for Midterm guys...(Dec 13-14) so he'll most likely wait until tomorrow to make his choice and sign LOI....have some faith guys!

Wow...just...wow!! This is beyond hilarious to me...

Our collective fanbase is so insecure that even in a situation where a rival fan can see we are the hands down favorite most of us are still freaking out

Lanier may visit Ole Miss this weekend and try to sneak in a visit in January. The school that is a concern there is Ole Miss. There's alot of pressure on the JC's in the state of Mississippi to help guide kids to stay in state if another school hasn't placed them there.

Pat is probably too small (5' 11" 196) to play as a pure LB under Dooley, who wants bigger players out there.

However Wilcox might want to work Martin in as a spur hybrid. He would be interesting in that role.

Martin has been very vocal all summer and fall about how they want to use him in unique ways.

I doubt he grows into a full time LB, but he's going to be put into a lot of different situations.
